It's real simple to me. I always knew that cutting the cord was an option but I never really considered it because cable was satisfying my entertainment needs for the moment. That is no longer the case. My cable provider has shown my vulnerability.

I consider the past three months as being taken hostage. I don't consider it as bad as being held hostage by Iran or Canada... but being taken hostage none the less because my choice was taken from me, my normal summer of following MY TWINS was ruined as far as I'm concerned.

I will call Midco to find out what my upcharge will be. I will ask what else I get by moving up a tier. I will probably pay it but my research into how I can CUT THE CORD and get WHAT I WANT so I'm not dependent upon people who so easily take what I want away will continue.

I will wait for the Twins and Major League Baseball to decide on a plan moving forward. I will look at the cost, and add that to my considerations of escaping from the Cable TV.

I'm happy it's back... My level of pissed is still pretty high.

MLB blackout rules need to be limited to a 50 or 75 mile radius from the ballpark, at least for home games during the week. Fans are not going to travel that far when they have work/school the next morning.

The blackout rules should also be lifted for road games, as MOST fans don't travel.

Blackouts aren't about getting fans to the ballpark. They keep the content exclusive to the RSNs. MLB does not require the blackouts, the RSNs do. The RSNs push the blackout areas as far as they can.

I have an idea, As mentioned earlier get the local teams together and start a new network. But how about reviving the Midwest Sports Channel name? I do realize that's probably too broad of a name for a local angle but it's familiar.

Those damn Canadians are taking hostages again?

I'll wager a beer of your choice they're on BSN next year.

Deal?

Maybe but not under the same terms.  There will be broader distribution that includes a direct streaming option in some form.  That might be a streaming service that bundles sports packages, but you won't have to subscribe to a cable provider or Youtube TV to get the streaming service.

I'm not sure Bally will even be around by next season.

Just so the outrage can commence early, while Fridays first game will be on BSN, the second game is on Apple TV+.

If Bally offers $25 more the Twins will fall all over themselves to sign up.

1st post, here she goes....

Since no one has mentioned anything about their actual personal experience with Comcast upgrade process, I'll explain mine here.  When I called them to inquire about acquiring BSN again under their Ultimate package, I was on the phone for a long time and got no live operator, and gave up.

Went online and didn't like the verbiage in the sign up process, so decided to type with the live Xfinity helper, for 45 minutes until he finally surrendered the information that the upgrade cost was roughly $50/month after the 90 day free trial.  I don't get where people are getting the $20/Month stuff from.

Also, when you go through the sign up process online (which they recommend), they try to trick you into additional options, equipment, and fees.  You have to be careful.  The guy explained to me that I would need the upgraded box to have the full experience with the ultimate package, which wasn't true after research.

So for me to keep this package going forward it would of been $600/year plus tax, not including the box charges.  And after an hour and a half of time commited to this stupid scenario, I said I'm just out.  F' it.  I know you can cancel after 3 months and all that, but I'm a busy man and the chances I would remember to circle back and do that are very slim.  I run a business and have very little time.

And it's definitely not a money issue for me, I'm doing ok.  I just can't stand to pay a nickel more towards anything to do with the Twins and their pathetically frugal ownership.  I know the Twins got paid on a separate deal, and this is a Comcast thing.  But the whole thing just f'n reeks.  I left disgusted and resentful.  I'll just wait and see what their plan is after next year's rights negotiations.

Thank you for illustrating why everyone decided to cut the cord in the first place and why I am fine not seeing the Twins as long as I never have to deal with cable television companies again.

You must have a lower tiered package. For me it will be $18.50 a month more after the three month trial. I had the package one tier lower than the Ultimate TV package. And it was easy to add the upgrade to my package online. Didn't even take me a minute.

Suberbox.

Amazon.

$300 one time fee

There is no way I would trust that on my home network. If something looks too good to be true it probably is.

As long as you have decent internet...it's great.

I wasn't worried about bandwidth. What is it doing to your cybersecurity?

What happens in 3-6 weeks when all the pirate streams hardcoded into your box go bad? Do you live alone? If not did you let the people you share an IP with know that by operating that box on their internet you expose them to lawsuits?  And that you have a packet sniffing device collecting all their traffic to be decoded later by unknown parties?

I'm all for sticking it to the corporations but those things are super risky and never work very long.  Better to just learn how to VPN your way to mlb.tv bliss.
