My hope for Alcala is that he needs to get his clunker out of the way before he settles down and starts to pitch. Twins have been amazingly patient with the guy...there has to be a reason.

Show us that reason, Jose.

I can't believe the management of this game. Even with all the other eggs Baldelli has laid, this one is really a pisser. Sucking the momentum out of the recent good play.

Wasn't commenting at all on it causing anything, but that's not that hard of a play. He had a ton of time and plenty of room, definitely an error if he got his glove on it

A ball doesn't have to be touched to be ruled an error. Any ball that can be caught with an ordinary effort. He totally misplayed that ball. So would an ordinary effort catch that ball? I say yes. E7. But I'm not the official scorer. I'd love to do it though.

Oh. Okay. Say he caught it, and there is one out (and would you call it a real fine play then? A great catch? Do you call it a routine catch, a ball that almost made it out of the park and bounced off the top part of the wall?). Then how does the game end? Big difference, eh?

Rocco removed SWR early yesterday, this is the result

keep defending him though. Rest the rotation, tax the bullpen, that’s always been his bread and butter.

I agree Rocco made mistakes tonight. I still disagree that he did last night. Give credit where due. I dislike Rocco. But he's not a complete idiot as you imply regularly. And always AFTER the fact

That's an extra out. You're looking at it as just 1 run. Yes that was a routine

flyout to left field. He jumped when there was no need to.

Again, I'm not saying it was the reason that inning unraveled. Not sure why you're acting like I am.

It would be a good catch at the wall but he clearly didn't have to jump and had about 4 seconds to position himself. That's it.

Best B.P. in baseball ??   havent heard that for awhile now

They have the 6th lowest ERA as a unit, 7th lowest in WHIP. This is only the 5th time this year a reliever has earned a loss. It is one of the better pens in baseball, but I would not call it the best.

If that balls caught as it should have been. And the rest of the inning plays out. Seattle scores 1 run. And that's a maybe. 7-6. Now the Twins didn't score. But to say it's impact was minor is not factual. To the tune of 3 runs. Big difference, eh?

Puzzles me that manager Baldelli would ever hit Margot for Larnach. Don't care about match up's left versus right when one player is clearly hitting and the other is not. The Margot addition was always puzzling even with Buxton injury history. Margot doesn't seem to have a role on Twins. If Margot didn't make money he does his performance would dictate being a candidate for DFA status.

Ober should have gone another inning. Sands goes two innings. Duran closes. Path to victory was there. Rocco got cute and got burned.

Jackson's not any good. There's a reason why the guy has bounced around. They need to DFA him and get Topa right.

Wouldn't be oppose to DFA'ing Okert, keep Funderburk as the second lefty, and see what Staumont has to offer - but that'll never happen.

Big picture - if the Twins stay reasonably healthy, i.e. Correa, Lewis, Lopez, Duran, they will win the division. But games like last night show that they're an unserious franchise because of Rocco.

It was a difficult play.

Martin made it look difficult.

In all fairness, his throw on the single by Rodriguez shortly after was the best I have seen from him so far.

I also have confidence if he learns from this one, he'll make this more often than not going forward.

Seasoning, or something.

He may not start, but if he keeps it up, he makes the team.

He has basically out done his horrible 2022 season in 111 ab this year. Crazy good start to ‘24.

Margo earned his salary today.
