Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 The Twins have announced the LHP Tyler Robertson has been claimed by the Washington Nationals.

gil4 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I wonder how many teeth-gnashing posts will result from this? IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!! As we know it. And I feel fine. Over-under = 32. Mine doesn't count.
James Verified Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!! As we know it. And I feel fine. Over-under = 32. Mine doesn't count.I'm going with over. It's obvious that when the Twins DFA a guy and he gets claimed, he was the best player ever. On the other hand, if the Twins claim a guy, he's clearly just some other team's reject.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 How could we get rid of a guy who has a 18 k/9 this year??!?!?!?!??!?
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Tyler Robertson's dad works in the Nationals front office (and is also a former scout for the Twins): Tyler Robertson, son of Nationals special assistant, acquired off waivers from Twins http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Jay_Robertson
James Verified Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Do you think the Nationals will bring him up for their series this weekend?
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Do you think the Nationals will bring him up for their series this weekend? For the Twins sake I hope so.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Good luck, Tyler. I think he'll crack the roster eventually. I find it fine we shipped him off because we have a good enough bullpen. (for now.)

Well "teeth-gnashing" may be hard to define but I'll go under. Robertson didn't excite people with raw talent like Benson did. There was still a lingering memory of Benson being a top 3 organizational prospect. No such distinction for Robertson though I do have to say I was pretty happy for the guy when he finally got promoted last year after seven years struggling in the minors.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 You win this thread with the R.E.M. reference. Here's the deal... Tyler Robertson isn't "The one I Love" but I don't want to be in "Ignoreland" either. We tend to "Bang and Blame" players like Tyler because their failures come at key times and the baseball sky can "Fall on Me" when it happens... Tyler Robertson has the potential to "Drive" teams forward at key times as long as you don't expect them to be "Superman". As for Tonight... a little "South Central Rain" has left me with no Twins to watch so all I can do is post with thoughts of Tyler Robertson and Dan Rather... Sitting here "Losing my Religion" with a can of "Orange Crush" wondering "What's the Frequency Kenneth".
beckmt Verified Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 If he could harness his stuff, he could be a LOOGY for a long time. So far he has just driven GM's and managers to distraction.

Seth made him number 1 a few years back...
YourHouseIsMyHouse Provisional Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I wonder how many teeth-gnashing posts will result from this? I'm actually very happy he's completely out of our hands. I was hoping he would get claimed, so we never have to worry about him being back.
clutterheart Verified Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Seth made him number 1 a few years back... Indication of how weak the system was at the time?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Good luck after the Twins series, Tyler. And Don't Go Back to Rockville.

diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Truth be told, this was just a way to even out the Span/Meyer trade.
