Well, they fired the head trainer last year.... and this year we were yet again ravaged by injuries.  Sometimes a change doesn't produce desired results.

I would have been quite open to considering new hitting coach.  I'm ok with the pitching side of the equation.

I don't think most of the injuries had anything to do with having a specific trainer, nor do I think the Twins were any more injury prone than other clubs. Looking at injury lists by teams, the Twins seem to be pretty middle of the road.

The Twins had the 6th most days lost to injuries. Dodgers led the pack.

Had you asked me around the All Star break about the staff for next year, I'd have told you they were going to make changes. Even with the kids only just debuting and some guys hurt...Buxton and Correa amongst them...I felt like plate approaches just looked like a mess way too often.

Having seen the kids come up, Gallo mostly removed and now gone, Kepler find a different level, and almost everyone just hit better, suddenly the coaches on hand look they were doing a really solid job. I believe we finished 2nd in the AL the second half only to Houston in regard to runs scored.

I get SO FRUSTRATED with 10-12-13-14 K games! The thing is, an out is an out. Weak tappers and pop ups are still an out, and double plays are even worse than a K most every time. If you get guys on base, run here and there when you can, and have good team power, (doubles in addition to HR), you have the ability to score runs and do serious damage.  And really, that's how this team is most set up at the moment, with a couple really nice looking bats about to be added to the mix in Lee and Martin...possibly Severino, though there come the K's again.

Where I DO have a problem is when the approach leads to 2 or even 3 straight K's with runners in position, or the bases loaded. A big, powerful drive there is awesome! But once in a while, a nice single or a line sacrifice fly can also score runs. And I don't know that it's "choking up" on the bat, but more an adjusted approach where our hitters just have to be move willing to sacrifice a little power for contact in those moments.

I'm not saying I would or would not change any of the coaches, or revamp the Twins philosophy. But I am saying that getting guys on base, having good team power, and being able to run once in a while just to make some things happen and pressure the other team, are proven ways to score runs. And again, I think that's how the team is pretty much set up right now.

I just want to find a way to avoid the seeming "contagious" nature of only power and zero contact that we saw too many times this year.

And I think bringing back the hitting coaches says this 2023 season of strikeouts is on the front office and the players they chose. To change it requires signing someone who is a better contact hitter or trusting that Martin and Lee are the answers, as well as some guys improve (Julien/Wallner/Lewis with more experience and Correa/Buxton?? being injured less).
