Blowing your wad before the most important series of the year would also defy all the baseball logics.

None of us will ever understand Rocco's management decisions.

Because there's no evidence Varland is any better?

I mean, yeah, give Varland a shot. But I doubt he's significantly different, and he has no relief experience, to boot. He's not going to be a short reliever.

The next time you want to try a rookie or a guy in a new situation will be the first. The bullpen was shot, and they could have used Varland in a Maeda start almost certainly. We know stands is bad just like Luplow and Gallo, who you also don't want rookies to replace. Stevenson already has more hits than Gallo and Luplow can dream about.

Molitor on radio, in an implicit comment re: Baldelli:

"When I had him (Kepler) as a young player, batted him against left-handers to learn -- as we knew he was going to be an everyday player for us."

Kepler, career vs LH pitching:

.216/.290/.356

He didn't learn much

Umm you do realize that we can gain or lose a game still today right?? Like this game still matters

You dont punt this game to hope to be able to use every reliever tomorrow when one of your best starters is going

And he left Sands in. Mental.

Most of them are pretty understandable.  This was always going to be a game they were going to try to steal with the B team.

When Jeffers plays all 3 against Cleveland it will make more sense.

Good one. They won't play Jeffers in more than half the games, even now.

Never occurred to me.  Of course they are trying to win.  The next three matter more, like double.

I was going to say catches two, but he will at least PH if not DH in the third game.

If only Molitor hadn't been fired in 2018 (winks)...

He is hitting 247 vs left this year. Slow, but effective learner.

But they matter less if we are up by more games by winning this one. Like that isnt hard to see haha

You dont dont punt by throwing a guy 2 innings in a tie game when normally he throws only when up or down by 7.

That is awful managing that not a single other manager does.

I think you're confused if have me as someone who wants Gallo, Luplow, or Sands on the Twins.

The difference between us is I don't believe Stevenson or Varland are any kind of answer.

No idea why sands is on this roster over Varland at this point. Seriously.

They are in the process of getting Louie ready for reliever work in the bigs. I've been thinking it would be wise to have him debut in that role against a little softer lineup than this one.

Sands really needs to hit the bricks. He's just not very good. Definitely not a major league pitcher. How many times does the FO and Rocco need to see him come in and barf all over the place?

But those are the options. What's your answer? Not Martin. Not Williams. Not Carmago. Not Lee. Not Varland. Those are the actual options.

I don't remember molitor being very good at managing, but taking out Julien for Luplow is inexcusable

The same Julien who had 2 hits in the game.

I use a Hornsby quote in my email signature block when the snow first flies:

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring. " Rogers Hornsby.

Why? He debuted in Yankee stadium.

Honestly, I was kind of surprised they gave him the fifth. He danced with danger for his complete appearance.

Couldn't have done worse than Sands...
