Added Twins lineup.

Varland demoted! Wow, didn't see that coming. 

Now if only they would do that with a certain hitter that's been bad for 3+ years....

edit: I guess this is about Maeda.....so, sure? Not that anyone but the FO thinks Maeda can go 5+ innings w/o his arm falling off. And, when they call up Maeda, they'll likely demote Balazovich, because he's young and Pagan should stay.......

I was sort of excited to see Varland come up, but he's done nothing to keep his spot in the rotation. Not surprising to me.

He'll be back, someone will get hurt or traded or ineffective.

Meantime, insert Maeda, would be my guess. Friday in Detroit? One of Balazovic or Headrick down.

Right. Varland needs some more work as his cracks are starting to show. I’m fine with exchanging Varland for Maeda, for now. Let’s see if Maeda has ‘righted the ship’, give him a couple of starts, then see. However, I’m not sure I want either Balazovic or Headrick sent down, but Balazovic is the likely candidate since they still have him starting and he pitched several innings the other day. Dunno. Maybe send down Morán or De Leon instead? (Can they send down De Leon and not expose him to waivers?)

I like Louie, but he's not quite ready yet. He got another taste of the bigs and now he can go to StP and work on some things. He's got to get better about keeping the ball in the park. We haven't seen the last of him. I didn't see a corresponding move...did they bring Kenta back?

De Leon is out of options.

Looks like a DFA of Garlick, and call up of Oliver Ortega, are the corresponding moves to the Varland option.

The Twins website has that as a move they made today. My guess is he goes unclaimed and stays in St Paul. Always ready for the FO to choose him over a younger player by finding a way to get him back on the 40-man. That temptation feels like it will never leave!
