ashbury Verified Member Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Vintage Buxton makes that play. Not sure about 2023 Buxton. / sorta ninja'e by vanimal, but not exactly

Cut off the throw from right field. That’s impressive. After the cutoff, hecould have blindly sprinted to backup home plate and run over his ace pitcher.

Pitchers generally throw harder. There are more strikeouts. But I don't think they're playing better baseball. They're certainly playing less of it. Better athleticism. They throw the ball harder. Hit the ball harder. Run faster. Athletes in every sport run faster and jump higher. It's the progression of athletics. They're trying to max out the human body. If you're happy with just regular people playing baseball the way you like it to be played there's a whole bunch of high school and town ball teams across MN every spring and summer you're able to go watch for free. But you pay for the product because you want the best. The best means pushing the limits, and sometimes that means the body can't hold up.

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted April 10, 2023 Posted April 10, 2023 Anderson is out. I hate to see a guy get hurt, but when it's done by his own teammate and while slapstick sound effects play in the background it does soften the internal conflict.

You're going to lose more games if your starters are throwing no sliders and 88 MPH fastballs, than you will be limiting their innings. Can't go back to 1980's baseball unless you want to watch the Twins win 40 games a year. With that angle, the go back to angle..... How about going back to the 60s and 4 man rotations and win 90 to 100 games a year? And every year, no matter what the style or year, some teams are going to use the norm of the day to win 90-100 games, even if it isn't the Twins. Ahhhhhhhh. You can't go back.

Larry threw the ball to Moe, who inexplicably threw back to Larry, who spun blindly and tried to throw the ball past Curly, who was blocking third base.
