11 teams have already contacted the Royals about a deadline deal for Chapman.

Were the Twins one of them?

It was a risk.  But I just checked Thielbar's splits, to confirm my memory that, for the last couple of seasons anyway, he's been more than simply a LOOGY,  Righties have a below-average OPS against him too though not like lefties.  4-out save for Duran versus letting Thielbar continue versus spend Lopez on one batter?  Defensible either way I'd say.

On Buxton scoring from third on that flare to deep second, he did two things—first, non-chalanted it back to third, so the CF assumed he wouldn’t dare try, and second, watched the CF catch and throw the ball.  If Isbell catches it and puts his all into the throw, Buxton stops.  But instead he read that it wasn’t a great catch and throw, and went for it.  Combined with the fact it was off line, easy run.  But it wasn’t just his speed that did it.

What are the lottery numbers?

Blatantly obvious reverse jinxes work as jinxes just the same.

I also don't know who the LH pinch hitters are for KC, but I gotta believe Theilbar vs Reyes, down 2 with a runner on, is the matchup they'd prefer 100 times out of 100.

I woulnd't have done it, but Theilbar put him away, so no worries.

Those waterfalls at Kauffman Stadium look gorgeous.

One of my favorite parks.  Super walkable.

Ever notice how the baseball acumen decreases as the game progresses?

Well, maybe if you weren’t drinking so much it would be better

We should probably ban him for that.  Now, just need to find a moderator!

The turds floating in Chase's pool are pretty cool, too.

Good luck. Those ******** are never around when you need one.

Another factor is that apparently the decision was baked in that Duran was not coming in.  The alternative of a 4-out Lopez outing is another variable that might have tipped the scales.

Full credit for bringing up the subject.  I'm just piping up after lollygagging and then going by the results afterward.

Buy Reyes is better against lefties. And the way he's swinging these days, it was pretty much his only chance. But now that I see Lopez out for the 9th....is Duran available?
