Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Why must things like this happen?
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 This will likely be a garbage time HR given up. I don't think we should be too hard on Berrios for it.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Cave’s days have always been numbered because he’s a role player with limited upside. The question has always been whether he’s serviceable in a platoon.Yes, he's a role player. 4th or better yet 5th OFer. He's not a "platoon" player because that would mean, as a LH hitter, He's starting 65% of the time by design. And he shouldn't be starting for a team that wants to contend.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Hard to call it a garbage time HR when it puts them within 4. It's still close. Especially with the Twins BP. A 4 run lead isn't that close... It's like a 14 point lead in football.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 I shouldn't have mentioned the word "blowout"...
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 This will likely be a garbage time HR given up. I don't think we should be too hard on Berrios for it.There's no good time for your starter to give up a 3 run bomb.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 A 4 run lead isn't that close... It's like a 14 point lead in football. Well a 14 point lead in football with a bad defense is close. That's kind of where the Twins are with their bullpen
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 He just isn't that good. I have no problem with him as a 5th outfielder, but man he can't really hit, isn't very fast, plays adequate defense... Just gotta have a better option. Maybe they can trade him for a B- prospect. Jake Cave 2018-19 was a guy you wouldn't need to worry about replacing, even with Buxton missing more than a game here or there. Jake Cave 2020-21 is a guy who makes you look at better options if one doesn't spring up internally, and hurts you bad if/when Buxton is out.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 There's no good time for your starter to give up a 3 run bomb. If he keeps getting shelled, it's a problem. But for now, it's a comfortable lead.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Well a 14 point lead in football with a bad defense is close. That's kind of where the Twins are with their bullpen In this context, the Royals also have a bad defense.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Author Posted May 2, 2021 Berrios....come on. You have to lock this down.
FlauerPauer Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Is Berrios really going to blow a 7 run lead? Please no.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Author Posted May 2, 2021 This is what we've seen out of Berrios all year. Looks amazing in the first 3-4 innings, and then the mid-innings hit and he can't throw strikes.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 A 4 run lead isn't that close... It's like a 14 point lead in football.looks like we gave up a field goal. Lead is down to 10.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 looks like we gave up a field goal. Lead is down to 10. If we have to field an onside kick attempt to preserve a late lead, all I ask is that the 'hands' team not include Colome.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 looks like we gave up a field goal. Lead is down to 10. I've always liked the idea of a rule where the FG is worth four if it's longer than 50 yards. Did they implement that?
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Berrios for another inning, and then Robles, Duffey, Rogers nail it down.
jkcarew Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 In this context, the Royals also have a bad defense.No. The Royals have a league average bullpen. The Twins have the worst in Baseball (bWAR)
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 I've always liked the idea of a rule where the FG is worth four if it's longer than 50 yards. Did they implement that? No, and for good reason. That would be BS.
cHawk Community Moderator Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 No. The Royals have a league average bullpen. The Twins have the worst in Baseball (bWAR) Fair enough.
jkcarew Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Three true outcomes when Benintendi bats against Twins pitching...single, home run, or robbed of home run by Buxton. Something different, maybe?
RickOShea Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Now there's something you don't often see, except this year.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Author Posted May 2, 2021 Poor throw, but AK has to scoop that
RickOShea Verified Member Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 This Twins team cannot string together any consistent play. The score early, then close up shop. The pitching and defense is about average, until about the 6th, then it implodes. It's like waiting to see how we lose, rather waiting see how we win.
