Blake Verified Member Posted May 30, 2019 Author Posted May 30, 2019 I'm back to civilization after a brief trip into the Boundary Waters...It was a rough trip: Too much rain, cold, wind, bourbon and bears. However, I did make it back and looking forward to a game on the TV tonight versus the radio. I had to pry my rain gear off with a crowbar yesterday but I'm mostly in good health overall. Thanks for all the notes of encouragement while away on my adventure. Go Twins! Note of encouragement implies we knew you were gone and missed you.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 So wait a moment. The Twins didnt play Wednesday and it's called an "off day". But if a player has a really bad game, it's referred to as an "off day". But it cant really be an off day because he participated. I'm so confused!Flesh this out to 500 words, and then see if RandBall's Stu will act as your agent for getting paid.
Dantes929 Verified Member Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 This team doesn't have a getaway lineup, IMO.It almost feels dirty, how deep this roster is, offensively.I've never seen anything like it in this town. Even when we've had relatively good offenses in the past, they were always top heavy.Remembering lineups that included guys like Drew Butera, and Matt Tolbert batting second seem like a bad dream now.I'm just going to enjoy it while it lasts, whether that's 10 days or 10 years. Its the opposite side of the coin to three years ago where everyone was so bad the really, really obvious choice for the all star game was our utility infielder. Everyone else was having career worst years to that point. In this case, every player except Cruz (still better than his average year) and Gonzalez are having their best or 2nd best year of their career. Some by as much as .200 OPS points. Some of it is just happenstance that can't last and some of it is players coming of age. In any case, in the future, when some one says how can you trot the same players out there every year and expect different results this team is the answer. Polanco, Rosario, Buxton, Sano, Kepler, Castro, Garver, have all been on the team in the past. Its just all coming up roses right now. Hitting can be as contagious as not hitting.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Very happy and relieved to see Byron Buxton's name in the starting lineup.

TribeAZ13 Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Hola, my Minnesotian (??) baseball lovers... Tribe taking 2 of 3 at fenway and scoring almost 30 in the series is a glimmer that were still a mlb team with champion pedigree... u guys wont lose games, so its moot i suppose..random note, does Mike Trout have to eat new born babies to have his WAR not increase after each game? Trout is hands down the best position player has been for 3-4 years now...but this dude was scorching to start the year, but since May 2nd, he hit .233 for the month, six doubles, with 5 homers and 14 RBI...i mean, this is the definition of what an average player puts up...yet his WAR continues to be first. there is no justification and it bugs me each yr... Ramirez and Lindor have been FAR more productive from any advanced metric vs Trout but Trout still has to lead...figured u all would be interested bc of Polanco and him having same WAR despite markedly better numbers vs trout.. thoughts?

So those numbers for May that you post are not "average", they are exactly 58% better than league average for the same time period.

TribeAZ13 Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Who is your guys' pitching coach? Martin Perez, a 7-8 year veteran who has barely been a 4th or 5th starter his WHOLE career, now getting K's, reduced BB drastically, and is an All star if it started today...incredible job...why we miss Mickey Calloway so much when he took the Mets skipper role...amazing transformation

TribeAZ13 Provisional Member Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Morton looks really good so far.He is another guy who was given awful coaching in Pittsburg and then Houston told him to use his heater primarily and he went from barely a starter to being a legit #2... hes a solid arm for sure

Don Walcott Verified Member Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Dick is trying to trill the rrs in Arraez. It’s not coming off well.
