after their off day on Thursday, they play 14 games in 13 days. With the 26th man for the double header, I’d rather keep the bullpen as fresh as possible.

Point well taken.

This ump has been really bad.

But I would say that he has been consistently bad, therefore kind of good.

This is why we need electronically-called balls and strikes so the calls can be consistently good, therefore actually good.

At the moment, Martin Perez is the most dominant pitcher in the rotation. To me, it looks like

Perez

Odorizzi

Berrios

Gibson

Pineda

in order of dominance.

as the games has gone on, he’s leaned heavier on the cutter. Maybe 40% the last couple innings. How long can that last until the hitters catch on?

Pretty good games from lots of guys so far. Gotta love Perez, diamond in the rough so far. He's just on fire right now.

In regards to the Twins pitching hierarchy that was posted earlier, I'll still take Berrios over Perez any day.

Until they start hitting it, he'll keep throwing it. Best part is, Perez is spotting his 94- to 96mph heater really well, and his change looks like an unexplored weapon.

Perez, greatest Twins starter ever, or greatest starting pitcher ever ?

Did Colbert (of the Colbert Show) steal your Schtick?

Morneau's idea about realignment got me thinking about something I thought of a while back.

When the league expands to 32 teams, the plan is to have 8 divisions of 4 teams. Ideally, divisions would be geographic (obviously) and there would be a Western and Eastern conference.

14 Games vs 3 Division Opponent = 42 Games (7 Home, 7 Road vs Each Team)

6 Games vs Other 12 Conference Opponents = 72 Games (3 Home, 3 Road vs Each Team)

3 Games vs Each Team from Other Conference = 48 Games (3 Game Series vs Each Team, Half at Home, Half on Road, alternating years)

I like my idea for the following reasons:

-Less division games, since 19 games against the same team gets old.

-More natural rivalry games. Twins-Brewers, Subway Series, Freeway Series. Makes a lot more sense than the Twins making 3 trips to Cleveland, where very few Twins fans usually go (I've been there, I know)

-No more going many years without going to a stadium (such as 2019 being the first time the Mets will come to Minnesota since 2013, or the Twins making their first trip to Philly since 2010). It's not really possible to play every team in every stadium in baseball, but this would be a great compromise.

-Less travel, which would benefit teams like the Mariners immensely, who currently have to make 6 trips to the state of Texas, which is more than 2,000 miles away.

Tell me what you all think! :)

Yes, and I've been waiting on royalty checks for ages.

1. I think it's a great post.

2. Holy cow that's a lot to digest in a game thread.

Fantastic bounce back game for the Twins. The bats were amazing against a really good starter, and Martin Perez continued to be amazing. This team is damn good, and I love it.

Cleveland losing is just the cherry on top :)

I don’t take any pleasure from bad things happening to other teams . . . other than teams in our division, the Yankees and the Red Sox.

Eric Sogard is listed at 5'10", but I am wondering if that isn't about 4 inches generous?

There’s no way he’s 6’2”.

Castro day-to-day on the HBP. Thankfully all three games are night games, so Garver can catch the next two if needed. Astudillo should be back soon as well.

And there's really only one thing we like to digest in a game thread...

Who draws the short straw and has to be emergency catcher? Ehire?

Twins WIN!!!!

What a game all around. Martin Perez looks like the best signing of any team this off-season, and this lineup is really good. This is just a really fun team to watch right now between the long balls, not giving away at bats, not striking out, and our pitching being good.

Have a good night, y'all.
