There is a small window before Magill or Moya will be ready. He has a chance to pitch well and earn a spot in the pen before they return. He is off to a good start tonight.

I get that Kimbrel wants stupid money and is likely to be a bad contract for a few of those years but there were plenty of good to adequate proven big league relievers that signed decent contracts.  Now they need to spend an asset and trade for a quality reliever quick. 

 

Get Romero up here there is zero reason to have him in the AAA bullpen.  Shouldn't have messed with him in the first place and certainly shouldn't be running the De Jong/ Vasquez/ Duffey types out in front of him.

When Duffey has command of the curveball, he can be effective.

 

To me, the issue is the percentage of the games where this is the case. It's been too low. The days he repeatedly buries the curve in the dirt and the batters aren't biting, he has to come in with his fastball.

I think you are on the right track, but first I want to see how/if Magill, Moya and Reed recover from injuries and take a look at Romero and Gonsalves too.

I do agree, It isn't a good sign this early but at the same time... in my eyes... it's a good sign at the same time because it is showing me a willingness to not tolerate sub-par performance and a willingness to try the next option. That is something that didn't happen last year and it almost killed me.  

 

I'd like a little more time to make those determinations but am happy with this simple fundamental departure from last year and therefore I will not quibble over timelines for the greater good.

I don't think it's either of those things. I think they just view the last bullpen roster spot as a rotation of fresh arms instead of keeping one fringe player up and having a dead, unavailable arm twice each week.
