The pen rears its partially ugly head again.   You cant get by in today's baseball with a weak pen. Bullpens are used every game, and a strong, deep one is one of the primary keys to winning.

I like the velo and he has a breaking ball, but as Morris noted he could really use an off-speed pitch. It seemed to me that as Perez pitches he usually loses command. Today, he seemed to improve as the outing went along. I’m pretty encouraged.

I honestly believe this is the best Twins team I've seen in the last 5 + years.

I'm not sure what to do...

Well, that's not saying much. We did have our worst year as a franchise ever in 2016.

I'm not entirely ready to write him off yet. It will be interesting to see how the increased velocity impacts his performance, if it does at all.

 

At least he's not throwing the ball all over the place tonight. His command is decent, much better than his bullpen innings.

Twins badly needed Perez to have a good long outing and got it from him.

It's what I tell myself after I've had a truly bad meal. Meals that were memorably bad. Meals that make one pine for the haute cuisine of McDonalds.

I’ve had truly bad meals, I didn’t need one of those to truly know a great meal compared to a good one.
