Blake Verified Member Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Good morning, one and all! Yes, I'm here to fulfill my duty as your game thread guide: *It's no "Young Frankenstein" though. Anyway, I've been looking for a reason as to why the team underperformed this year, and came across this novel theory: *About the only part of that particular episode that was any good. You'd think they could have dubbed in some better voices. Sheesh. Since I've gone hopping down the bunny trail, I'll leave this here just because: *Yes, that is Michelle Dockery of "Downton Abbey" fame. Well, enough chit chat, as it's time for me to leave a random image that has nothing to do with anything and on the relevance scale is less than zero: Some observations from last night: 1. I felt bad for Mr. Gonsalves. His debut was underwhelmingly underwhelming.2. From what I saw, it looked like Busenitz did okay.3. Bats were there, pitching wasn't.4. No doubt there's some young talent on the Sox team.5. Go Twins!6. The burning question: Did I manage to get the right team, time and date? We shall see. Pitching for the Twins: Jose Berrios. Pitching for the White Sox: Michael Kopech
Blake Verified Member Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 I won't have time to get in the lineups today. Thank you to whomever gets the job done!

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Important start for Berrios. Is he going to be the guy that was borderline dominant in the first half or the guy that has been borderline terrible in his last 5 starts?
mrmpls Verified Member Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 Ouch -the Grossman is back, hope it dosent put Austin forever on the bench!!
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 How many times have we seen that inning this season?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Textbook terrible situational hitting. Textbook
drock2190 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Good to see a White Sox prospect come up and show some talent.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Comrade, can you spare a kopech?
twinsbaby Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Very impressive first inning for Kopech.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Good to see a White Sox prospect come up and show some talent.I’m gonna go ahead and disagree with ya there
drock2190 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 I’m gonna go ahead and disagree with ya there Twins can't horde all the talent, don't you know??
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Twins can't horde all the talent, don't you know??Nor can we develop it, apparently.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Twins can't horde all the talent, don't you know??Are they also stashing away so that nobody, themselves included, can't find it?
jimmer Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Great heads up play by Sano and great throw!
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 How is that a hit? A major league third baseman has to make that play.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Why is Grossman on the roster, let alone playing? I really do not understand the plan here at all.
jimmer Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 How is that a hit?A major league third baseman has to make that play.yeah, the very best ones make that play, but that's not an easy play. Definitely not routine.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Speaking of routines, did you hear the one about.....
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Speaking of routines, did you hear the one about.....How Molitor plays Wilson every other day instead of Garver?
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 How Molitor plays Wilson every other day instead of Garver? good first attempt, anyone else got a good finisher for that?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 I just dropped a quick new article on Twins Rookie Starters since 2010 if anyone's interested. I'm interested to see how Kopech does. I've heard some pretty good things about him.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 yeah, the very best ones make that play, but that's not an easy play. Definitely not routine. The ball went right under his glove. I know errors are never called, but that is an error. He got to the ball fine. He just let it get past him. That’s not extraordinary effort. That’s not getting the glove down to catch it. That should be an error.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Should be a blast watching this guy blow 100 mph lasers past our lineup 5x a year for the foreseeable future
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 You know you’re getting old when the father of a guy who’s making his ML debut idolized Nolan Ryan when he was “growing up”
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Should be a blast watching this guy blow 100 mph lasers past our lineup 5x a year for the foreseeable future...it certainly has been thus far.
jimmer Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 The ball went right under his glove. I know errors are never called, but that is an error. He got to the ball fine. He just let it get past him. That’s not extraordinary effort. That’s not getting the glove down to catch it. That should be an error.Yeah, I've been railing, for years, on the fact that not enough errors are called and that we should hold MLB players to higher standards. And I still don't think that was an error. So we disagree. And it's not like I'm an apologist for Sano's defense...
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Speaking of routines, did you hear the one about........the “rebuilding” team that has 10 players on it’s active roster that will be 28 or older by the end of the year?
