Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Two Veteran AB's by the Doze and Joe (LoMo takes 4 straight and Joe jumps the first pitch)Why is it so bad to jump on a first pitch? Doesn't Mauer get criticized for watching too many first pitches?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Monster was too tempting. Pinch hitter Mauer flies to left first pitch swinging. Oh well. We still got another crack to make up for Eddi's Minnesota Nice baserunning.
tvagle Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Hopefully playing 3rd doesn't remind Eddie of when he came up as an infielder and his coping mechanism
tvagle Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Why is it so bad to jump on a first pitch? Doesn't Mauer get criticized for watching too many first pitches?I get the idea...and most situations I'd be ok with it...but...coming off the bench cold and having just seen 4 straight balls i wish he would of saw a couple Hindsight and all that
jimmer Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Why is it so bad to jump on a first pitch? Doesn't Mauer get criticized for watching too many first pitches?good frakin' question

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Why is it so bad to jump on a first pitch? Doesn't Mauer get criticized for watching too many first pitches?Guy hadn’t thrown a strike, and it wasn’t a particularly smashable pitch
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Why is it so bad to jump on a first pitch? Doesn't Mauer get criticized for watching too many first pitches?I’m on the under on the “2.5 balls off the monster” though.
twins_89 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Why is it so bad to jump on a first pitch? Doesn't Mauer get criticized for watching too many first pitches? I don't mind seeing Joe go after the first pitch. There are way to many Mauer ABs where he watches the first pitch go right down the middle of the plate and it ends up being by far the best pitch he sees in the AB.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Chief nap over?I wish. Grandkids showed up.
tvagle Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 I wish. Grandkids showed up.Best reason
jtkoupal Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Eddie Rosario in the infield... Might actually be an option in the future. Internal 3B options are dry in the upper levels of the minor leagues, Sanó is more realistically a 1B/DH. Most of the prospects are in the middle infield. Rosario has played infield in the past. Outfield depth is much more abundant. Buxton & Kepler are there for a while yet. Cave and Granite are decent prospects also. Kirilloff is probably not a 2019 option but certainly figures to be in the mix for several years after that in the outfield.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Mauer picked a bad time to swing at a first pitch. Kimbrel can't find the zone
Han Joelo Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 I can't tell you how awesome it looks on gameday to see "Twins Bench" and the only name under it is B. Wilson. What is this, the 16th inning or something?
tvagle Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Yea good AB...that and a quarter won't even get you a phone call
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Man a couple of shots against kimbrel here.
tvagle Verified Member Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 I'll take two more 55 footers please
