RE: Sano

Yep. He’s so dynamic that the game is worse off when he’s not playing.

If I believe another report of Sano, losing weight or being in better condition,  it will be a result of a series of before and after photos, a certified weigh-in and a congressional hearing validating the results of said weigh-in while enacting the death penalty to any party caught falsifying statements, propagating false reports or tainting results in any way. How is that for skepticism.

I'm not so sure why the Twins say Buxton is ready to come back. Even at AAA, he was getting owned at the plate. 

It's my opinion that they guy needs a ton of work to get back here. He has to hit .240 or better to be in the lineup. And I realize how good he is in the field. That said, he can't be an automatic out and expect to stay in the big leagues. Teach him to bunt or put the ball on the ground if that's what it takes. If he comes back though and is more of the same guess hitting, looking completely lost, etc, then I will be pretty disappointed in whatever it is they are supposed to be working on with him down there.

I'm getting to the point where I honestly don't want to see him up with the Twins any time soon...nor am I that interested in seeing him 'promoted' to AA or AAA.  Simply because it takes so much time to truly change so many aspects of a players game, approach, and preparation as is being attempted with Sano.

 

Buxton challenges aren't of the scope of Sano's.  But something has to be done about his hitting.  If they simply throw him back to the major league club as soon as he's healthy...given the 2018 situation...isn't that kind of like saying you're giving up in terms of improving his swing?

Unless Buxton can hit better than Cave or Kepler, he does not belong to the Twins' every day lineup, so he is better served playing every day in the minors, instead of platooning against lefties in the majors.

I agree with the sentiment, although my opinion would not be quite that strong...as his marginal defensive value (over Cave/Kepler) is worth something...not as much as many think...but something.

 

With regard to platooning him against lefties...his career OPS against lefties is 669 (: .  But yes, I'm agreeing...why wouldn't we take the opportunity that is the second half of 2018 to do something...anything...to try to move the needle on the swing....at least make sure he gets back to the old Buxton that punished AAA pitching.
