sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 Children's game game thread: What all were yer favorite games as a kid? And how am i going to tie that in to introduce a game thread? I don't know, but i figured i'd try. Baseball, after all, primarily a childs game. Promotes sportsmanship and teamwork and all them good stuff. Develops loads of hand eye coordination. Encourages fitness. Brings out all the buzzwords, don't it? Anyway, the incipient kids game that gave rise to this line of thought was Simon says. Simon says, "Catch the ball." Now throw it over the 1st baseman's head. Simon says "round 3rd and head for home." But you don't have to slide. And what brought this up was imagining the inverse game played after the fact, featuring Excu instead of Simon. But that's just me being clever. And i don't yet know how its working out for me. Anyway, back on point. We need two captains to make teams... and to decide who chooses first, how many fingers have i up behind my back... Oh right. It's the major leagues, and here be yer line ups: OriolesDylan Bundy (R ) 1. Tim Beckham ( R) 3B2. Adam Jones ( R) CF3. Manny Machado ( R) SS4. Mark Trumbo (R ) DH5. Chris Davis (L) 1B6. Jonathan Schoop (R ) 2B7. Trey Mancini ( R) LF8. Joey Rickard ( R) RF9. Caleb Joseph (R ) C TwinsLance Lynn ( R) 1. Joe Mauer (L) DH2. Eddie Rosario (L) LF3. Brian Dozier ( R) 2B4. Eduardo Escobar (S) 3B5. Logan Morrison (L) 1B6. Jorge Polanco (S) SS7. Max Kepler (L) RF8. Jake Cave (L) CF9. Mitch Garver (R ) C Gametime Forecast: 81°F • Clear • 1% PoP
Blake Verified Member Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 Favorite childhood game? Considering the whirling dervish that I was as a kid, I don't think I sat still long enough to focus on any particular game.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 6, 2018 Author Posted July 6, 2018 Oh, a special shout out toduckduckduckduckgrey duck.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 How old is childhood, because I was about 10 or 12 when I started playing D&D...... If you want younger, I'd go with life or operation. If we are going to 10+ year old:D&DTwixtStocks and BondsStrategoRisk (man, I hate unending games with repetitive rounds now)There is/was this golf game that was wet erase that I liked, but google fu is failing meQuintoAcquire I'm sure I'm forgetting something here... edit:Breakthru and Twixt are behind me....and what is left of my D&D collection is around too.... How could I forget:FroggerPongand all the classic 70s video games
GCTF Verified Member Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 Hmmm...no Wilson. Maybe he got loose and floated away.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2018 Posted July 6, 2018 Will Willians ever catch? I don't get this at all....
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Will Willians ever catch? I don't get this at all....I don't either, but it's clear Molitor sees him as a utility infielder only and probably only an emergency catcher. I wonder if he's going to be optioned when Adrianza gets healthy. (and Motter should be a guaranteed DFA when he's healthy)

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 If I’m a pitcher, what possible incentive is there to give Manny Machado any pitch to hit?
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Jake Cave or Byron Buxton!?! Helluva a catch young fella!
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 I think this Captain Caveman person might be a keeper.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 I guess you could say the difference is like night and day, eh Bert?
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Thought I read somewhere that Motter was already sent to AAAWhoops, I missed that update. I didn't know he had an option - I could see them DFA'ing him for Ervin when the time comes. Also, Lance Lynn at 26 pitches after 2 innings? The Orioles must be pretty bad!
David HK Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Cripe- sleeping late today, just got up! So decadent, it's after 8! So, let's see, ummm.... gotta catch up here.... capture the flag. We''d play it across 3-4 blocks sometimes, sneaking through back yards and alleys and such... No Wilson? Will wonders never cease. I hope they don't. Cave-man, wow. I guess Bux now has a whole face-wash of incentive to stop sucking at the plate. And, hey, wow, what a surprise, we still have catchers playing elsewhere than behind the plate. Ok, now, how's the game going?
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 I played sequence for the first time in 15+ years at a brewery not too long ago. Still a fun game!
David HK Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 whoa, Caleb Joseph sporting some nearly Wilson-esque numbers there.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Whoops, I missed that update. I didn't know he had an option - I could see them DFA'ing him for Ervin when the time comes. Also, Lance Lynn at 26 pitches after 2 innings? The Orioles must be pretty bad!He was already in the minors this year after the Twins claimed him from Seattle.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 It's have to say it again: I can't ****ing stand the Pizza Ranch for the win commercial. There is nothing good about it. It makes me want to boycott their restaurants.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 Dick mentioning the ASG. Everybody except NYY, Bos, Cle, Hou, and Sea gets one player. Fill out the rest of the roster with players from those 5 teams.

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 That was a tough play, but that’s two bad throws by Polanco already tonight.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 So just for the heck of it I looked -- the Orioles have 22 games left against the Yankees and Red Sox, and 10 against the Indians, Astros, and Mariners.. Ugh.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 That was a tough play, but that’s two bad throws by Polanco already tonight.Of course they called it a hit when a good throw would have netted the out... they just don't call errors anymore.
