Samwise Gamgee game thread intro:

 

There is this one point in Two Towers where Sam and Frodo are resting on the stairs up to Cirith Ungol in a dark and dismal land and their conversation is about the epic tales and how the folk in them have no idea how they'll turn out, they just keep on going.

 

I can't think what in this season might have brought that moment to mind...

 

But in it Frodo jokes about wanting to hear more of what Sam says, as it makes him laugh. That brings me straight to a game thread intro...

 

So... to run with a theme, Buxton and Sano are off enjoying ent draughts that will curl their hair, and we have the unexpected help of Faramir... er, i mean Fernando Romero. But currently it is a hard climb back up, and who knows what arachnid baseball team might be at the top of it all...

 

What all heartwarming cheerful down to earth good humour things y'all got to say to keep our flagging spirits up?

Ha!  At it already!  I like it!  Appease the man (and me) and bring up Wade already!

 

Also, I agree on Dozier.  Time to mix things up a little because clearly the status quo ain't working.

Mix it up with these same guys? I'm so down on them, they seem to have no leader that gets upset/shakes it up, just stumbling along. Sad!!!

But, today is another game. Go Twins!!!! (hesitated to cheer for the Twinkies, but not there quite yet).

I don't disagree, it is sad.  But clearly what they've been doing isn't working and there are fixtures in the lineup.  Why not try something different and see how it goes?  What's the worst that can happen?  They leave runners in scoring position, put together strings of poor AB's, expand the strike zone as if they were in Little League and lose because of it?

What I find astonishing is that a such a bad game wound up with a game thread that went more than 16 pages.

Why does Mauer need another day off from playing first?

 

That's 7 already, by the way.

 

You'd think with ship sinking and the defense already stretched he could maybe tough it out and play a day game after a night game.

 

But you'd be wrong.
