How about a double off the RF wall here, Joe?

At least its a hit, even if its a hit that does the least possible damage. Even with Dozier running, he can only advance one base, on the soft single to left.

They need at least 3 in the bottom of the 8th to save us from Rodney. I won't be watching. I can't watch him pitch anymore. I won't. Cant wait until he is gone.

My old friend Sol, who fancied himself a pirate, met me at my usual afternoon neighborhood bar spot for a beer.  He's not really a pirate, of course, but he tries to pretend, and all of us friends just play along.  It's harmless. And he does go to the Gulf of California and sail his boat every chance he gets.

 

Anyway, we meet, and I see Sol has a patch over one eye, a hook for a hand, and a wooden peg leg.

 

“Ye gads, matey,” I says, playin' the pirate part. “What happened to ya?”

 

Sol says, “Me pirate ship (his sailboat, actually) sail was fouled, and a rope wrapped around my leg, and pinched it right off. So now I got me a wooden peg.”

 

“That's Awful! And yer hand?”  I asks.

 

“When me ship sank, a shark bit me hand off. So now I got me a hook.”

 

“OK, but what’s with the eye patch?”

 

“I was standin’ on a dock, and the biggest seagull I ever saw poops right in me eye.”

 

“But ya don’t go blind from no seagull poop.”

 

“True,” says Sol. “But it was me first day with the hook.”

Ok, let's see if we can score some runs in the bottom of the 8th!

If Rodney gets no save, he can still earn a win.

 

Home game after all.

 

Oh, and RB is overseeing it. They'll double their efforts.

Nice catch fighting the sun by Rosario. Target Field is a beautiful place, but from home plate to center field is almost exactly west to east. That's why it's such a horrible place for outfielders in the second part of the afternoon.

Wonder if Molitor would consider bringing Mauer in to play 1B in the top of the ninth. We'd lose the DH but if all goes well that's a moot point.

I'd like to see them do that. The pitcher would go into Morrison's spot, which is eight batters away, and Castro and Sano are still on the bench (maybe not Sano), so they could pinch hit if the wheels came off and the lineup got to that spot.

Yes. Eddie Guardado was the master. Rodney hasn't mastered the almost part
