I was sitting here wondering what kind of PH we could throw out there for Vargas in that situation and could only come up with Garver so I neglected to post beforehand.  Wasted opportunity.

I guess I can understand having Kepler sacrifice against a LHer, but man...it's a begrudging understanding, with little enthusiasm.

Nice job, Belisle. You let the guy with 2 career HRs and a sub .600 OPS hit a HR off you to blow the lead of the game.

Urk.  :banghead:

Boy do the Twins miss Sano.

I'll say it again: His weight didn't get him injured. But it sure looks like it's impeding the recovery, making the Souhan blog so many people hate look pretty much correct.

Earlier today gladden was discussing the twins maybe signing someone today so they could be on the playoff roster, but he said we don't have any "glaring needs"

How does it look like it's impeding the recovery?

Jim, is that you?

He's still within the window that they said the recovery would take. Where is this even coming from?

I don't think the Twins should even think about signing Belisle. I usually don't feel good about the chance of winning when he is on the mound.

I know that.

But this game is a reminder how how much he is missed from the lineup. They might be winning, but they miss him. And the longer he's out, the lower this team's chances of winning is. That's where it came from.

which has nothing to do with this $%@&%$& that his weight is impeding his recovery that seems to get repeated.

Not to harp on this too much because it's a very boring topic in my opinion, but you didn't address the part I bolded.

Jim, is that you?

So you don't think it's impeding his recovery at all?

You think that weight has nothing to do with injury recovery? Is that what you're saying?

Because he is progressing slowly from the injury, you know. And absent some other explanation, the only thing we have is that his weight has slowed his recovery.

It really sounds funny to let a guy with an ERA of 4.62 to close during the wild card race this late in the season.

Or it could be one of an other 1000 things.  Deeper break than thought, slow healer, tried to do too much too soon, etc.  Should I continue?

Well, let's see. A 260-pound man with a shin injury is recovering slowly from said injury.

Absent some other explanation, the best one is that weight is making it tougher to recover. Weight and conditioning well-known factors in injuries and injury recovery.

So, perhaps the injury was worse than originally diagnosed and if so, I take it all back. But it's perfectly realistic to assume that Miguel Sano's weight is hampering that recovery.

It's not a break and if it is I take it all back.

"Tried to do too much too soon" is hardly the reason given that he just went on the DL.

Weight is just as likely.
