SweetOne69 Verified Member Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Yep, the 40 man roster will now be at 39 player with Slegers' addition. There's been some confusion over some of the past 40 man moves but I'm quite confident they're at 39 now. I'd glad to see Slegers finally get his chance. Similarly to Enns, I don't think he has the stuff to be a MLB starter, so the bullpen could be his actual home. At least he's getting a chance after a solid year in AAA and watching a bunch of veterans get promoted ahead of him. It's actually at 40 now with Slegers and Perkins.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Good for Slegers, but isn't the bigger story the upcoming Gonsalves debut on Monday?Could still be Turley or Jorge, I suppose. Both are on the 40-man. Although Santiago could probably go on the 60-day DL at this point, and Anthony Recker still could be removed (it was apparently erroneously reported that he was removed shortly after we acquired him).

KidBro Verified Member Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Slegers will be our 32nd pitcher used this season. Record is 39 pitchers set by the Rangers a few years back. I think Dodgers were 31 or 32 last year. Think we can get 7 more? I don't see it Perkins-33Gonslaves (hopefully)- 34 Things are really moving quickly.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Good for Slegers, but isn't the bigger story the upcoming Gonsalves debut on Monday? Not in a forum thread titled "Aaron Slegers Making His MLB Debut tomorrow." And we dont' know, for sure, that Gonsalves is starting Monday.

Recker was removed from the 40-man roster. twinsbaseball.com not correct.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 Recker was removed from the 40-man roster. twinsbaseball.com not correct. Are you sure? The only source I've ever seen cited for this was a tweet from LaVelle -- which is no longer available (deleted?): https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/twins-outright-anthony-recker.html And it's not just the 40-man roster page -- Recker's own transaction page doesn't list it either. And I can't find any mention of it search MLB.com. Fox Sports lists the transaction, but still has Recker on the 40-man too. No story mentioning him being outrighted, though, so maybe they got the transaction from LaVelle's initial report?

You're right I think. Don't see it.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 That was a pretty random meeting! Did you have a Twins hat on or something and she commented?Twins jacket actually. Almost didn't wear it because it was pretty warm.
The Wise One Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 It will be the second game because that's the game in which the 26-man roster is in effect.A darn fine result it was
drjim Provisional Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Good for Slegers, that was a huge start for the Twins.
laloesch Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Good start for Slegers. At this point in the season I think the Twins should send Gibson down to AAA for the remainder of the season. Kyle CAN'T go deep into games at all. He has been like this all season. I would like to see the Twins keep Slegers up and possibly make room for Gonsalves too. Get these two experience this season and see who sticks down the stretch.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 They will have a decision to make for Tuesday -- do they start Gibson or Slegers that day? If not Gibson, they might as well send him down now for an extra reliever / bench player in the meantime, and start his 10 day recall clock early just in case we need him back. Between Slegers and Gonsalves, they should be set for starters over the next 10 days.
