Jham Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 I don't have a ton of confidence in Gibson, but I kind of have a bad feeling about going to the pen...
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Gibson has to be frustrating to everyone not just Gibby himself. Molitor is trying to give him a major league job and Gibson keeps not taking the offer. I assume Molitor is an advocate for Gibson and when you go against the grain while advocating... poor performance is going to cause a stronger reaction to it. Bottom Line: It will be much harder to go back to the table and say... "I think Gibson is coming around". Gibson is slipping out of the majors before our eyes. The interesting thing about Gibson is that except for his poor walk rate, his metrics at least superficially say that he's not pitching much worse than when he was effective. He's allowing a much higher batting average on balls in play and his strand rate is worse, but both should theoretically normalize somewhat, and other numbers like his K rate are right on. And then you watch him pitch, and you can see how much more often hitters tee up and tattoo the ball. His home run rate alone is nearly double what it was at his best. At this point he's a cross between the worst version of Kevin Slowey and Charlie Brown when he gets his clothes knocked off by a line drive.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Gibby needs to toss a Lawrence Welk inning: Annuh one, annuh two, annau tree...I think that is what Molitor was afraid of. Annuh one run homer. Annuh there's a two run homer...
David HK Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Uh-oh... that run out there belongs to Gibby. I hope Duff can keep him from scoring, so Gib still gets to give up the same number of runs as innings pitched....
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 And there goes the bad egg ...We're still talking about a chocolate factory, right?

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Unfortunate that we must use one of our best relievers, maybe the best reliever, in a six run game. But that is currently the state in which we currently find ourselves.
Taildragger8791 Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 I'm firmly convinced Kyle Gibson made a deal with the devil at some point. That's the only explanation I have for how he is in line to earn a fourth win with an ERA close to seven.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 We're still talking about a chocolate factory, right?Well, I was talking about the movie when I typed that. The timing was unfortunate. Or fortunate depending on your perspective.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Way to go, Duff. Six more outs and we can all smoke see-gars by the see-ment pond.

They can take care of that in a couple innings. Maybe even one. He he's not in the clubhouse yet!

snepp Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 7 runs, the 2nd most dangerous lead to have.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Gibby needs to toss a Lawrence Welk inning: Annuh one, annuh two, annau tree... And as soon as I type that he's yanked. Sigh. "Let's Gibbyboogaloo until we puke..."

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Figure they'll bring Buxton in for Robbie after this at bat? My guess is yes.
