Carew to have heart transplant

In my younger days he was my favorite player.  I went through several of those plastic batting helmets, and each one had #29 on the back.  I can still do a recognizable imitation of his swing when I go to the batting cage - that's pretty good for a guy who's 6'1"/260 and normally bats right-handed. 

 

Prayers for a full recovery so we can see him out there again in spring training with another generation of Twins players.

Carew was my first favourite baseball player when I was a kid. I wish him well and for a speedy recovery.

Yes, what a great hitter and a bright spot as I followed the Twins as a kid in the 70's.  My thoughts are with him and his family and the doctors for a successful transplant surgery and that his body accepts the new organs.

It seems from this that surgery went well and he is expected to make a full recovery. It is amazing what can be done in today's age. And hopefully his body will completely accept the new organs.
