darin617 Verified Member Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Let's all put our thoughts and prayers for Rod Carew that his heart and kidney transplant turn out for the best and he has a speedy recovery.
Jerr Verified Member Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Be strong as always Mr. Carew!!!!!!
gil4 Verified Member Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 In my younger days he was my favorite player. I went through several of those plastic batting helmets, and each one had #29 on the back. I can still do a recognizable imitation of his swing when I go to the batting cage - that's pretty good for a guy who's 6'1"/260 and normally bats right-handed. Prayers for a full recovery so we can see him out there again in spring training with another generation of Twins players.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Carew was my first favourite baseball player when I was a kid. I wish him well and for a speedy recovery.
wavedog Verified Member Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Yes, what a great hitter and a bright spot as I followed the Twins as a kid in the 70's. My thoughts are with him and his family and the doctors for a successful transplant surgery and that his body accepts the new organs.
Jerr Verified Member Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 13 hours of surgery and doing good, per KSTP....... go Mr. Carew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jerr Verified Member Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Only player, with HIS name on the back of it that I bought, as I don't put other's names on MY back.......................BUT, he deserved that!!!!!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 It seems from this that surgery went well and he is expected to make a full recovery. It is amazing what can be done in today's age. And hopefully his body will completely accept the new organs. http://www.kare11.com/news/carew-begins-18-hour-heart-kidney-transplant/371789210
