MLB Trade rumors makes a comment that our general manager almost swung a three-team trade, but no details were given.

Interesting! Might've really put Ol' Rob on the map if he had done so.

Now, we can all speculate, what would've been the perfect three team trade. Who were the teams, possible players, and why didn't it happen.

Of course, at some point, we hope all will be revealed...perhaps when the waiver market plays out and any players invokved are staying with the Twins or long gone.

ESan to Toronto, with some third team providing young players to the Twins because the Twins didn't like what the Jays were offering. My partial guess.

trading Santana would have been a huge mistake if you would look at the free agent market for this winter.

Minny-Toronto-Pitt?

I can't help but wonder about that too.  I'm thinking the Twins really were interested in Reese McGuire, and may still be.

I'm wondering if they thought they'd need a third team involved to unload Nolasco, then pulled the trigger when that turned out not to be the case. Who knows? I'm pulling this straight out of the ether.

Only if you think the team is competing next year.....you think they'll go from 70ish wins to 85+ in one year?

That is pretty much what they did last year.

I think the more interesting note here is the Berardino is claiming Anthony HIMSELF told him this.

Dropping that news is definitely not a move out of the Terry Ryan playbook. Between Anthony's loose lips, Jeremy Nygaard's near-miss source and employees from two other organizations in the know on this would-be deal, we might actually find out the details at some point.

I've read that the original 3 way deal was Ervin Santana to the Jays, in exchange for pitching prospects (likely revolving around Foley or Harris plus others) while the Pirates sent Liriano north in exchange for  Hutchison and other prospects.

Apparently Antony didn't like how the deal was shaping up and backed out while the Pirates and Jays went through with the rest of the deal.  I don't blame him for shying away.
