That last freeze frame showed the ball changing trajectory.  Whether or not the glove was underneath...impossible to tell.  But the ball definately bounced.

He has good plate coverage and strike zone judgement/pitch recognition, he just seems to have fallen into a habit of checking his swing on Every. Single. Pitch. Bad habit.

I've probably told this story, but I was at the Big A that night when Niekro got ejected.  4th deck, between 1st and home.  I could see the board fly out of his pocket from there.

I think all the check swings on bad pitches is in direct conflict with the idea he has good strike zone/pitch recognition. :-)

Thats fair. I just don't remember him doing that as much last year. It looks to me like he's checking even when the ball is nowhere near the zone. I don't think he needs that much of a head start with his swing. At least I hope not.

Ya know, as crappy as it is that the Indians appeared to get the shaft on that catch, I don't feel all that bad. I've seen a number of pictures of the crowd from their games recently, and the support the (first place) team is getting is atrocious. Granted it's not a fancy new park and the bball team won earlier, but you gotta do better than 15k in August for a first place club.

I commented on that a bit back.   You look at all the bad attendance teams this year and they can all be somewhat explained away....except Cleveland.
