Pokemon Go

Second, in my experience when I walked around at home to catch pokemon and hatch eggs, the game would lock up as soon as I left a wifi zone and when on 4G.  That was bad enough, but when I closed out and tried to re-open the app the login would fail and I wouldn't be able to get back in until I was back on wifi.

FWIW, this problem has mostly gone away. It was the byproduct of the game being WAY more popular than expected.

It was still happening to me on Sunday Morning.

It was still happening to me on Sunday Morning.

There was a huge outage on Sunday morning. I believe Niantic was doing a bunch of server work that morning.

My point is that things have been improving by the day. The issues will exist, they just diminish by the day. When I first downloaded the game 10-ish days ago, it was unusable from 5pm-9pm every day. Now it only occasionally hiccups.

Is this still a thing? Or is it dying off now?

This is going to be a profitable game for at least three years, probably longer. It still hasn't released in a large portion of the industrialized world (including where I've been for the past week, Canada).

Hahahaha ... that's hilarious. The best was the first guy, though ... getting knocked into the fountain. Lol.

Brock better be careful. :)

It just came to Taiwan last weekend and things are insane here.  I haven't played yet but I will sometime. I have other things to do though. Like a business and launching a second business in the next 6 months.

If you played Pokemon Go at the beginning, but quit because there wasn't much to do, here's what's been added:

- More Pokestops
- The PvP/raid system is completely different

- Boss battles

- You can see what the neighborhood Pokemon are and where to find them

- Pokemon spawn more often

- It's easier to acquire higher level Pokemon

- There are missions and rewards

- You can make friends, send gifts, and trade

I live in Chicago and it's a good game here ... but once you get into the suburbs there still aren't many Pokestops.  My building being a Pokestop has always made it easier for me to get gear.

I played at the beginning but got bored. I came back a few months ago and it's been a nice diversion during my day....

I never wanted a smartphone, but had to get one for work. My son installed Pokemon Go on my phone. I am now level 40.

How many levels have you lost at work? :)

I recently wanted to ask about this, but also didn't want to bump a really old thread, but I am glad someone else did. How old is your son or rather how old do you think a kid should be to really grasp this? Very recently my 6 year old has become just pokemon crazed and he doesn't realize this app is a thing that exists quite yet, but I wasn't sure if it's something that I should introduce or hold off on.

I am not sure if it is too young for Pokemon Go, but I hope you are not allowing your six year old to read Twins Daily.

I figured it may be a tad too young, but after getting him involved in the celebrity death pool here, he is always looking for more games.

Read? He's been banned twice.

We need more old people discussing modern technology (etc.) threads.  :)

Someone told me these new portal devices called Walkmans have better sound than my transistor radio, but I am skeptical.  Can anyone confirm this?.  Look at how small my radio is and I can get WCCO almost anywhere - (if the weather does not cause too much static).

Anyone 40 and older qualifies as ‘old people,’ just so you know.
