Bob Sacamento Verified Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 (edited) There goes Kirilloff and I have a new best friend in the GCL. OF first off but 1B is his likely future. Edited June 10, 2016 by Bob Sacamento Hosken Bombo Disco, gunnarthor and nicksaviking 3
70charger Verified Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Well. There's that. Good hit tool and I'll take that though I wanted a particular pitcher. Ah well. What do I know.
Twinsoholic Verified Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 My reaction: Meh! Would rather have a starting pitcher. Thrylos 1
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Well, it looks like it was a good pick. Just not an exciting pick. But his bat is apparently pretty good for a HS kid and he certainly has some baseball background from his dad so maybe he's a fast mover through the system. Best of luck to him.
Twinfan603 Verified Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I hate this organization so much. Who pulled the trigger on that pick when you have your choice of the college pitchers you've been in on for months? Let's take the kid who's nearly a year older than his HS competition and is already notorious for a lack of bat speed. I never understood the love for AK and I still don't.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Another High School OF. Exactly what this organization needs. David HK 1

dgwills Provisional Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 (edited) Not a fan of the Twin's pick. I think Rutherford will be a better hitter. Sounds like they were locked in on Kiriloff since he's already been well coached. Very Twinsian pick. Hopefully it works out. Edited June 10, 2016 by dgwills David HK 1

drivlikejehu Verified Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 The Twins' track record makes it impossible to have much confidence in their picks. I'm not a scout, so I don't have an opinion on Kirilloff in particular. d-mac 1

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Yay, a power hitting corner outfielder, just what we were missing......No clue what this team will need in 4-5 years. If the were picking a hitter, I just wanted the best one. No clue if he's it but screw position, it's too unpredictable.
Bob Sacamento Verified Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 They really love the kid's makeup.Exactly, from what I've seen in the couple of years around the Twins lower level teams, they seem to put a bigger emphasis on drafting good character/moral guys than most organizations do. The exception being Kohl Stewart.

dgwills Provisional Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 The White Sox have had the perfect draft for the Twin's needs. Maybe they plan on trading them to us next year

sftwinsfan Verified Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Look at the upside the Cardinals have added, they end up getting both Delvin Perez and Dakota Hudson. Quite the haul. Personally I would have taken advantage of Perez's fall and taken him at #15. With an organization like the Cardinals grabbing him it probably shows that it wouldn't have been a bad gamble. d-mac 1

nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 First two picks out of HS. Can they both be signed for slot or less? Or are we looking at college kids the rest of the way through round ten?
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 First two picks out of HS. That's been awhile. Can they both be signed for slot or less? Or are we looking at college kids the rest of the way through round ten?I think they'll sign around slot but they might save (combined) a couple hundred thousand. I think we'll end up doing what we did last year and get someone like Trey Cabbage a bit later.
