Not sold on Kirilloff, but Rortovedt was the guy I liked at 56 for a long time.

I thought we debunked your overheard conversation from what was allegedly Kohl Stewart's family?

Spy I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm just basing it off of countless encounters with him personally as well as other fans I've talked with thru the years.  During ST there was a group of 5+ old time Twins fans (couple of TDers) standing around just sharing stories of their interactions with Kohl, lets just say nothing nice was said.  I have said this when comparing his attitude as to Gonsalves:

On the other hand, Kohl comes off as very abrasive, distant, keeps to himself, if you can get one word out of him that's more than most.Just his personality, I don't fault him but it does make it really hard to root for him (one of the very few in the organization).

Of course I said this almost a year ago today,

Wow lot of worried peeps over Kohl Stewart who is pitching at High A and won't turn 21 until after the season.Don't be, he's looked good for being one of the youngest players in the league and his .337 BABIP shows that he's been unlucky thus far. He's been working off and developing more his secondary (change and curveball) than just his fastball. If he stays the entire season in Ft. Myers it's not a bad thing, consider this a learning season. The K rate will go up from 4.17, just don't expect a 9 or be upset if at 21 he starts the 2016 season in High A either.

Gotta like the Rortvedt pick. Looks like a good player. Too bad we just missed out on Nolan Jones as I would like him a little more. Who knows if he will sign though and it wouldn't of filled as big of a need as Rortvedt.

Wow. All high school kids. You have to imagine they go all college from here on out.

A couple nice picks at 73 & 74 - Miranda and Baddoo.  Baddoo is another GA prep OFer.  Mayo has said some nice things about the Twins draft.  Not a bad first day although it'll be a few years before we know.

Well, I side I wanted HS guys.  Guess the Twins listened :)

Only thing I would have liked would have been to walk away with one of those pitchers, but at the moment pitching is strong in the farm system.

Thanks, I do believe I had you confused with another poster there. There has been so little public discussion of Stewart's character that I conflated the two.

Still, I'd be wary of judging anyone's character based on the interactions you described. So he doesn't open up with fans standing around outside games and practices, that isn't necessarily a character issue. And it says nothing about how he might interact with his peers/teammates and coaches.

Calling a kid low character and questioning his morals because he wasn't chummy with fans as an 18, 19, 20 year old is pretty damn unfair.

Bob, your insights are great, but this seems light. Other than possibly having poor social skills, what did Kohl Stewart do to these old guys, walk on their grass?

Or are there other things that you just don't think are appropriate to discuss?

Yeah everyone trying to ruin my Baseball Christmas stay on topic, BTW PMed the 3 of you my reply. :)

Up next, I want to see one of the guys I got to see tryout for the Twins drafted: Luis Curbelo, Nick Derr, Henry Matais, Bryan Torres, Fransisco Thomas, Josh Winckowski, JC Flowers.  Curbelo and Flowers should go off the board today.

so the real question is whether they keep going young.  I'm assuming these are more HS guys.  I like that by the way.  I'll be even happier if they pick up one more HS guy (preferably a pitcher).  I suspect most of the rest of the top 10 will be college players.  Jeremy noted in another thread that after the 4th or something like that the picks are no longer protected.

Smart strategy if this team has truly embraced their cellar dweller status. If they can't sign all of these guys, well it's only going to make their already large 2017 draft pool even larger.

Yeah they are all HS guys so I'm not expecting more than 1 either.  Still it seems the Twins might have saved a little money on Miranda although Baddoo might cost that savings, similar to what they did last year with Blankenhorn and Cabbage.

that's fine.  They need ceiling, and the college ranks don't have a lot of it this year.  I'm not going to be critical even though I'd have liked one of those prep arms at 1-15 b/c they went out and got ceiling.  Sure, they didn't go get a Matt Manning, but every one of these guys could be an above average bat at their position.  I like that a lot, and it really does veer away from their typical tendencies (drafting safe college arms in the 2nd round).

Much Baddoo about nothing! Sorry, I've wanted to do that for a while.

I was thinking of a band: Akil Baddoo and all your friends.

Sorry.
