It was Bill Veeck, Mike's dad. He was high on life. He also had a wooden leg, so he didn't have to worry about getting hurt while sliding. IIRC, the shorts were replaced by long pants before the end of the season.

Winnah! First MLB win for Taylor Rogers, who was very impressive against the Rays. I do have to say that I haven't seen a worse lineup against the Twins this year.
