So Baltimore appealed as to whether Park left early.  How many times in the history of appeals has an umpire ever determined a player did leave early?  Can we just stop with this?

Isn't one of the reasons why we got Murphy is that he can handle his own behind the dish and at the plate?

Danny mentioned a couple innings back that he stole 10 bases in Korea.  One assumes he meant just last year, but absent further data, it could mean his entire life.

 

That was all just a long way for me to say I have no idea.

I'm surprised that Buck didn't come out and at least question that foul out.  The ball hit the fan's hand before it was caught and he could make a case for interference and send Park back to 3rd base.  I'd have to get my rulebook out for that one but I think he'd have a case.  Glad he didn't think of it.

I assumed it has happened, but is it a 10-20 times a year type occurrence, or a 10-20 times a century?  If closer to the latter, let's just stop being silly, and tell the pitcher to just throw the next pitch.

I know each player is different, but I concur with others here and fear that Buxton's progression in the bigs with look a lot like Hicks' -- that is, poorly and protracted.

Before we start worrying about Buxton too much, consider two things:

 

- He's been pretty good about taking pitches today, a big step forward

 

- He made two damned fine plays out in center
