"On the Waterfront"..

Terry Malloy (Marlon Brando) to Charley Malloy (Rod Stieger) :

"You don't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a" NON-TENDER! "I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it. It was you, Chawly...."

Me likey, if the price is right, for all the reasons above.  Or Span-ola. Both still have a lot of useful tools, are great guys, and were great Twins.  But I also see we brought back Joe Benson on a minor-league flyer.  Hmm.... that might preclude the other two.

Nah.  I like Revere a lot, but his arm just doesn't cut it.  That'd make him  DH in my book.  And that'd make the outfield:  Rosario in left, Arcia in right on Sano in center.  Because Sano runs pretty good for a guy his size.

:go:

Sure, Sano runs pretty good for a guy his size. That's all.

I think this is an instance where you have to decide what has more value in center field, Revere's speed or Sano's arm. I think most people would go with Revere.

Bring back Revere ? Bring back Span ?

Rosario takes one OF position for sure.

Buxton has a history of starting slow on a new level and then catching fire. He already has proved himself in AAA. Unless he is completely lost in Spring Training, I expect Buxton to start the year in CF.

Don't forget Danny Santana.  He became a passable fielding CF in 2014 and he could do so again.  I'd like to see him start in LF.

and do we really want to give up on Arcia ?  His bat should play.

I don't see room for Revere or Span.  Use the $$ to extend the contracts of Sano and Rosario and Berrios and anyone else who looks like they will be Twins Fixtures.   :)

It was a joke.

I have seen more ridiculous, but totally serious, suggestions made here, so I didn't laugh until just now.

Ahaha, yes...same here. :)

Seems I read a lot of opinions about how meaningless spring training performances and stats are right here on these boards. If that is actually true, what would be found out about Buxton's readiness in spring training?

Looking at ST stats is useless (or something approaching useless) but the team gets 5-6 weeks to monitor physical maturation, approach changes, player attitude, etc. That's valuable.

I think Revere makes a lot of sense on this team for 2016. He can play center or left if Buxton or Rosario spend any time in Rochester. Revere can hit at the top of the order, allowing Dozier to bat 2nd and Mauer to move down to around 7th. He can be a fourth outfielder and/or late inning pinch runner.

CF.....really?  He makes Jacque Jones arm look like a cannon.

No - does this team ever move on or do we have to have every ex-Twin come back for a farewell tour.  Go young, we have the players.  The upside of the players we have and the performance of Revere do not match, go with the potential and move on.  Move on from Nunez and Fien too.

The problem with this is that it essentially becomes Buxton or bust next season in CF.  We have gone down that road before.

I fail to see how putting Buxton in AAA is going to help him learn to hit MLB pitching.

He's already shown he can hit down there. Start him with the Twins, and let him go through the growing pains he needs to go through in order to become the hitter he has the potential to be. It might not be pretty, but he needs to learn on the job.

OTOH, didn't he do much better his second time around last season? He may be a quick learner.

Not that I wouldn't welcome Revere back. We like our ex Twins around here.

In the comments, this is what MLBTR's Tim Dierkes said about Revere's inclusion on the list:

I agree, the MLBTR staff generally finds a trade more likely. And Jeff Todd suggested he be removed from here. But I think there’s enough of a chance that he warrants mention (10%?)

Interestingly, that's the same percentage odds Seth gave for a Tommy Milone non-tender (10%).  It ain't happening.

The more I read this discussion, the more surprised I'll be if Revere is non-tendered. Somebody put him on a list, discussion ensues.
