Yanks clinch a WC berth - let's get 'em!

 

Reminds me of WAAAYYY back in the day, the North Stars had never won in Boston Garden, and suddenly they pulled off a best of 3 series in the Gahden after 20 some years of futility. The Wild have never lost in Boston, or maybe once.

 

Time to turn the tables.

Well... It turns out that I'm old enough now that my glasses need glasses. 

BTW there is this new thing called bifocals. Much more convenient than holding up your glasses' glasses in front of them. Ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Really, IMO we already made the playoffs. ESPN mentioned the Twins tonight, and in a good way.

 

Winning it all, or at least the WS, is all that could be better.

Much was made how the Twins handled the White Sox. Without a lot of hoopla, they handled the Tribe to the tune of 12-7. I believe they won five of the six series and completed the season series with a nice 3-1 in Cleveland.

This season has been sooooo much better than what I was dreading...

It's completely ridiculous that the Astros (or anyone) has to play an interleague series for the final three games. Plus, what's with an off day right now? Strange scheduling.

Duffey is a freaking stud. Great win by the Twins tonight (with a comeback none the less)

 

I could be wrong, but he would be scheduled to face NYY in the WC game if we are lucky to make it that far, perhaps he is the one who can reverse the playoff curse?

 

Now onto KC, just win 3 and hope Houston loses at least one

More Like Odd Scheduling... 15 Teams in each League.

Brilliance or dumb luck? Molitor pushed all the right buttons in the late innings last night and I'm sure he would have been second-guessed had things gone differently.

 

1) Pinch-hitting Danny Santana. Santana is 0-10 as a pinch-hitter, but he did what he never does--take a walk. Molitor then had Santana running when Escobar got the ball past the third baseman and scored without a throw.

 

2) Pinch-running Eduardo Nuñez. Plouffe is slow, but has been a solid hitter. What if the game goes extra innings or Nuñez makes a misplay? Well, Nuñez scoots first to third on a single and scores on a wild pitch, his playing third has no consequence.

 

3) Bullpen usage. Molitor didn't send May out for the eighth in a tie game. Perkins gets the Tribe 1-2-3 and Jepsen sets down the middle of the order with only a bunt single as damage.

With the Angels loss last night we moved from 4.0% to 9.5% chance of making the playoffs (according to Fangraphs and ESPN.com)

 

Baseball Prospectus had us at 6.7% yesterday and hasn't updated their number yet.

 

The Blue Jays sitting all of their regulars Wednesday night (after the clinched in the afternoon) and Yesterday doesn't help us a bit. They are now tied with KC and KC has something to play for. Toronto holds the tiebreaker, but it seems odds that they sat their starters for two games when homefield is on the line.

 

I'd much rather play KC if we got through a WC game, but the odds of that happening are quite low since we need wins (probably 3) and we'd need KC to pass Toronto in the standings.
