no matter what happens the rest of the game at that point, that will likely be the most important at bat of the game. i get not bringing in May or Jepsen, but at least bring in fien or Boyer for the out and an inning at that point. Guys who have actually gotten major leaguers out. Achter has shown nothing in the majors thus far.

Hell, give me duensing over achter in that situation (feels sick)

Heck , leave Milone in if you are going to bring in Achter at that point, and ORourke should only face lefties, where is Tonkin??? Has he pitched yet at all?

At least I was able to listen to this game on my car radio on the way home.

 

Now I have to eat the dinner that my wife cooked, but the game is in high def and we can still win this.  I see the rest of this game as a test of how much energy and focus the Twins can muster down the stretch.

I've never seen a baseball game where both teams run out this many pitchers with ERAs over 6. Unfortunately, our bad pitchers suck more than their bad pitchers. 

At the height of Jordan's incredible career, a sports talk guy hyped him with the claim that the top five list of hypothetical contemporary back courts would have to include "Michael Jordan and... you".

 

From 2011-13, the answer to the hypothetical question 'Name the teams whose combined pitchers performed the worst in a game today' was pretty much 'The Twins', and... anyone'.

 

But yeah, pretty freakin' awful.   Somewhere a Scott Boras lackey is on the phone right now attempting to negotiate NetJet rates for a contract counter-offer on behalf of a Jugs pitchbot who can sometimes get a batter out.

I am having trouble understanding the Achter decision.  The only thing that I can think of is that maybe he looked great in his last bullpen session and/or maybe some of the other guys have injuries.

 

If anyone has some other justification for bringing in Achter, please post it.
