spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 So, to those of you who had been advocating the trade-up-to-win-now approach, how many trades at the cost of how many top prospects would have been required to avoid this most disastrous road trip?
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I've had about all I can take. Thanks everyone, see ya'll Tuesday. Thanks again BK for the great job on the game threads. Still looking for volunteers to fill out the month. by the way, the punch line I was looking for: "Wow, that must hurt. Let's get you inside, out of the sun, put some pain reliever on that, and get you a cold drink." Not sure what the big deal was with all the reluctance to provide the punch line.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Contest: drink of choice to forget about this afternoon game? Me: Deep Eddy's Lemon Vodka chilled.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Seriously? Rub your eyes or other places???? Well, I think we all have done it, just hope they weren't really hot peppers, but it would be more funny I know...but I'm supposed to be a professional. Rookie mistake.

The right one. Giving up a 99th ranked prospect in return, because our farm system is so strong, dontchaknow.

ashbury Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I've had about all I can take.Sixty seven more of these just aren't in the cards, you're saying. Oh, wait, this wasn't a continuation of the punch line contest?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 punch line contest: A young lady had just taken up golf. One day she went out to play, and got stung by a bee shortly after the round started. It hurt so bad, she took the cart and headed in for medical attention. When she got to the clubhouse, the pro saw her and asked what had happened. lady: "I got stung by a bee." Pro: "Oh, that's terrible. Where." lady: "Right between the first and second holes." Pro: //supply the punch line.// I know you need to see out, but if you darned the bonnet, they wouldn't get in. (did i avoid the pitfalls everyone else is so wary of?)

ashbury Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 It's the right strategic time to bring in our LOOGY. I have been educated today.
Jerr Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I know...but I'm supposed to be a professional. Rookie mistake. And I knew you are a Chef, which helped the "funniest" for me.
David HK Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Wow, just had a wakey-wakey in the middle of the night- and popped in to the inter-nets for a score. Holy.... and here again, the newly-acquired No-Neck Williams has done the damage. Where did this guy come from? Oh, and before I forget, and go back to sleep---

We do know that doing nothing didn't work very well.
Gibby Provisional Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Damn a wild pitch. That's how we score most of our runs.
jimmer Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 We'll never know. We do know that doing nothing didn't work very well.Exactly, we will NEVER know as long as Ryan is GM. and few were advocating trading for 2 month rentals. Most advocated for getting guys to help this year and the future. Like Tulo, for example. How is Toronto doing with him, BTW?
glunn Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I watch games to enjoy them. When the Twins are playing this poorly I think that it makes sense to stop watching. If enough people stop watching then the front office will be under more pressure to change what it is (not) doing.

Weren't they worse than us at the time and foolishly spending money doing so?

Weren't they worse than us at the time and foolishly spending money doing so?Well, their RECORD was worse than ours, not the team itself:-) And I'm pretty sure the one game they didn't win, Tulo didn't play. They are 2 innings from sweeping the Yankees.
Jerr Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Here we go!!!Hicks has finally got it! nevermind
glunn Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 That double by HIcks seems meaningful in terms of killing Kluber's shutout and ending the series with at least one positive note.
glunn Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 You going to watch the Vikes tonight? No, not a football fan.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I should have cooked chicken.Hot spicy chicken, with gallons of Tabasco sauce to rinse your hands in, right?
jimmer Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 That double by HIcks seems meaningful in terms of killing Kluber's shutout and ending the series with at least one positive note.wouldn't Friday's win count as a positive note? On a different note, Pelfrey pitched well enough to keep us in the game. :-)
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 9[th run of the game] in the 9th? fifm... Which was more than i expected. The expected answer was "nein" but that woulda worked better if i spelled my numbers out... Anyway, i caught some of the game (i got the real tools o' ignorance) and was happy with the amount of attention i paid. Until next time!
Jerr Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 It has been fun here and I was reminded to wash my hands, after cooking with peppers or any hot veggies, BEFORE touching any body parts
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 The expected answer was "nein" but that woulda worked better if i spelled my numbers out...Won. At least we got won run.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Won. At least we got won run. Thanks for pointing it out! I had not thought o' that. I think my new favorite thing now is a der. How many ders? Won der is enough for me, thank you.
