Message to Alex Meyer: Look at the bright side, kid. You just made thousands of people very happy.

Seriously, the main thing here is to get that first appearance over with, so next time out he has a chance to control his adrenaline. He had great looking stuff today, but zero command of the strike zone. Thus, he was forced to throw it down the middle, and BOOM. Best thing for him is to get gently ribbed by Glen Perkins, then get back to work with Neil Allen.

Welcome to the bigs, Alex Meyer. Hitters love 'em down the middle.

Shouldn't that be less than no joy in Mudville? More than no joy implies there is some joy, however small.

I'm not sure

That's one of those questions that will keep me awake tonight trying to figure it out.

Less Than No Joy has to be a double negative.

I agree... I'm oddly encouraged... I can see he has stuff.

Although... 221.6 is still kinda funny.

I've had dishes in the dishwasher for a couple of days now.

They must be done... Right?

If you leave them in there about a week, all that water on top of the cups is mostly gone! On the other hand, if you do that, but forgot to start the dishwasher, there may be a new life form living in there when you open the door!

Ya know, the game's getting sorta interesting again. Six runs behind ain't impossible.

I've seen it before... I'm with ya... But I do need to get some sleep. I'll have to read about the comeback in the morning.

I'll leave with a thought.

Everyone is waiting for Sano

Why not Adam Brett Walker? 20 dingers now in Chattanooga

I have not been able to focus on this until now.  Did it appear that May is injured?

TD posters who never much liked the Denard Span trade?

As for the 221.60 ERA, that's what happens when you give up two home runs and then the box score doesn't have room for your 4-digit 21.60 ERA. Suitable punishment, I think.

They were giving him AB's with the big club near the end of spring training. They don't hand those out to just everyone.

Trivia:

If a pitcher DID have an ERA of 221.6 ...

what would the number of innings pitched and earned runs be?

EDIT: actually there is an infinite number of solutions :)

Just answer what the lowest reducible number of IP and Earned runs would be

Yes, I did the math. He would have had to give up 41 runs. (I'm probably wrong about that, too!)

I have installed at least 4 dishwashers, and have absolutely no idea how to load one, put soap in it, or turn it on. I have found that the less one knows, the better off one can be.

I'm taking a look at the stats, but I'm seeing that Torii Hunter isn't batting too well (.258/.319/.403). For as much as we complain about Mauer, Hunter isn't doing much better...

Actually, on second thought, this doesn't look that fun, sorry........

ERA = ER / IP * 9

A pitcher would need to surrender 1,108 earned runs over 45 innings to have an ERA of 221.6

Yes I'm embarrassed I bothered to calculate that........

I'll go with 45 innings and 1108 earned runs given up. In other words, just a typical season for Samuel Deduno.

At least it was nice listening to Uecker for a while on the radio and him talking about the fun games with the Twins.  And praising guys like Zoilo, Battey, Gagne, Kirby and Tony.  He even said Tony should be in the hall.
