The Ft. Myers Miracle announced that Kohl Stewart has been placed on the 7-Day Disabled List. Nothing else really mentioned.

Does he have the disease called 'non-strikeoutis'?

From Minor League Director Brad Steil, "It looks like it’s just inflammation and we knew he would miss his next start, so we put him on the DL. There is no corresponding move right now."

I'm sure it'll be closely monitored over the next week to see if he'll just skip one start or possibly be out longer. If it'll be more than one start, my assumption would be that they would make a corresponding roster move.

I assume it is inflammation of the shoulder? Obviously hoping for the best, but if the shoulder didn't get all the way better over an entire offseason, should we really expect it to get better over a week?

Why is this somehow on the medical staff? Wouldn't catching inflammation early and monitoring be about the most they can do?

I'd be more upset if this were a shoulder issue that had continued to lag around, but something new seems odd to lay at the feet of the medical staff

If that was the disease, he wouldn't be DL'd. That disease has already taken over most of the Twins pitchers and they are pitching through it.

Odd? Maybe. Predictable? Absolutely.

Too bad. TINSTAAPP strikes again.

I hope its nothing. But if he needs TJ surgery get it done and maybe he can get a few innings late next year. Dont do what they did with Thorpe.

The Twins are just pioneering a new strategy, TJ where the player misses 2.5 years instead of 1.5

Have I missed a Twin who came back from it in 2.5 years? I thought this clubs TJ success stories hovered around zero depending on how one views Liriano's 2nd go around.

I am just speaking to the just wait and hope it gets better strategy, pre-TJ

I get it. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in that in my view recovery time is actually closer to "never".

I actually don't care if the player does the rest and rehab route though. As long as it's the player's decision. It's his arm and his career. I want him back ASAP, but from a human perspective I understand my interest in his future is probably limited to what he can do every fifth day at the MLB level. He likely views himself more than an occasional entertainer.

Just so people know... If it really is just inflammation, then rest is the only option. Surgery is not even a consideration.

I know everyone knows that. Just felt like stating it anyway.

That all said, it's alarming in the sense that he's had shoulder inflammation before and now the elbow. it just adds up and inflammation can turn to tears, and that's when surgery is needed.

It appears that Stewart is good about letting them know when he feels anything so that they can get him rested.

Who knows where this will lead though.

I am imagining Seth wearing a stethoscope and a white lab coat to make this verification. :)

Man, I hope they aren't using a stethoscope to verify his elbow issues.

I hope it is not serious ... not TJS serious.

Yes and Yes.

Sliders and curves are tough on the elbow - especially on young arms. The DL is the best thing the Twins organization could do to keep this from getting worse.

Some organizations rush pitching prospects, and they overwork young arms. Long toss programs and pitch counts can help, but overuse still happens.
