notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I wish that had hit him, the Royals would have had brawl #3 on the year. The Twins don't brawl. They are too listless.

shimrod Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 May produced a number of weak grounders and flies....most of which were booted/dropped by various Twins.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Coming up on Twins Live "Duffy Outduels May"...Yeah I noticed that too. Haha funny Maybe they will say something about, you know, the fielding problems?

ShouldaCouldaWoulda Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 What is the general feeling on Santana's defense so far by you guys? He seems erratic and scatterbrained to me. Maybe I'm not seeing things right though. I have a gut feeling that Buxton will be held down all year, or until September. Santana to CF and Escobar back to SS seems like it might be necessary, whether the Twins want to or not. Guessing Santana's defense will get better throughout the season, but just much better?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Everybody got in on the fielding sh-t show today including Mauer and Dozier on his 35 foot soft backhand flip.

Hrbowski Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I wonder when the first player will be sent down.
gil4 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Was that not a foul ball? Isn't your hand part of the bat?Nope. The hand is the hand and the bat is the bat.

Guessing Santana's defense will get better throughout the season, but just much better?I've never really been ... convinced ... of his abilities at SS, granted just from a very few times I've seen him over the years. Given that, perhaps he needs a bit more time to settle in. Hosken Bombo Disco 1

I've been getting up from desk and walking to the TV whenever the radio guys said anything that seemed worth investigating. Santana hasn't been sharp but he's got the arm and skill to be an above average defensive player in my opinion... I'm willing to be patient with him. Let's just see if his engagement and focus will get him there. I also don't worry about Dozier or Mauer defensively. Everybody else... I'm worried. Of course I'm also worried about Birds banding together for an Air Force like attack on humans when we don't expect it. So... take it FWIW.

Rosterman Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Did anyone catch the playing of "It's a Beautiful Day for a Ballgame" during the interview with Torii at the game's beginning. Like others, I wonder if the need to sing "God Bless America" is a necessity. Yes, you can showcase another singer. But...
NoCryingInBaseball Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 That's the game. The Twins showed a terrible defense...but an even worse bullpen. I was encouraged by May's performance though.
shimrod Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I'm willing to put up with Santana's growing pains...he's playing his natural position and he's young. Although I'm hoping Molitor will correct the loafing (giving up on the ball that went under Dozier's glove) It's the Torii Hunter misplays that drive me nuts...

I was encouraged by May's performance though.Yep a huge positive. Horrible stat line but he really did pitch good. Vargas had a sharp RBI single. Dozier was gold glove at 2B except for one play. Arcia tries, he really does I'd stick with Arcia for sure.
big dog Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Fire Gardy!!!! Fire Rick Anderson!!!! Oh wait. I thought May did a pretty good job today, but his infield and his outfield let him down. Suzuki caught most of the pitches, anyway.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 So of Brian's different options as home openers, which best characterized this game? (if someone actually cares, go ahead and set up a poll) My initial reaction to "blue ice" was the eyes of the others in the song of fire and ice, but having not read them in several years, and not following much of the hbo series, i can't really comment usefully there on. But does anyone have dragons we can bring to tomorrow's game? No? Just a thought... Thanks to all who sweated it out.
shimrod Verified Member Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 You can put up with one Arcia....a limited fielder with a promising bat. But if you're going to run Arcia out to one corner every game you'd better have someone who can field his position in the other corner.
