  1. I'd go with a whip of less than 1.2 and innings pitched in the range of 135-150. A 9/3 strikeout to walk rate per nine innings.
  2. Sometimes, in Larnachs case, management needs to make room for up and comers. Sometimes they need to quit automatically rewarding repeat failures, in the case of Sabaro and Cavaco.
  3. I think it comes down to health and how everyone is doing. All things being equal, I would give the game to Gray. But I also think there is no wrong choice.
  4. Why not add pitchers when available? If you wind up with 3 sore arms during spring training or early in the year, its a good thing so see what's out there. Even if they keep them, I doubt they are on the 40 man roster very long. Besides they may want an extra arm or 2 for live BP.
  5. Most players, I think, change positions after they're drafted. Probably the fewest shifts are made by average hitting catchers. Frequently good hitting catching prospects are moved to other positions. Players drafted at shortstop seem to be shifted the most and the fastest. A good athlete who can hit, run and throw, I don't think needs to waste a couple more years in the minors learning a new position. Get him some experience at 2 or 3 positions. Send him to the pros and let him work himself into a position.
  6. I expect all three could wind up in someone's minor league system next year should the Twins decide to drop them or simply not include them on the 40 man at year end. As far as Cavaco and Sabato go, we have players in the minors passing them by and pushing for roster spots. For Balazovic though, pitching is always critical and he was steadily cruising through the system and I think everyone was expecting him to be pitching for the Twins this year or at least challenging for a spot in the majors. Hopefully he gets it together this year soon.
  7. I just someone of the expected 3 starting outfielders can hit over 230 otherwise we have a lot of automatic outs in the outfield.
  8. I'd like to see a solid vet at second base who can hit 275 with 30+ homers. Oh wait we have one. Polanco should slot in at the third spot in the lineup and maybe lead the team in rbi's and have an ops over 800. He should get meaningful time off this year before he breaks down which would help him avoid any long down time.
  9. So far hasn't shown any signs he should be at the level he has been promoted too. I expect this is the year he doesn't finish. Too bad for his dreams.
  10. I would like to see them work Martin into second base and right field, along with center field at times. I don't think he will find time at shortstop, but by the end of this season he could fill the the job at leadoff and right field quite well. With Polanco maybe not ready to start spring training at second base, that leaves an opening at second also.
  11. I'd plan on Pagan being the guy who comes in during the third inning of an early blowout. Maybe a 5th inning of a blowout. But I wouldn't let him see a 6th or later inning during any game the Twins were within 3 runs of winning.
  12. There's no given that any of the free agent starters we have will be back in '24. We have Ryan, Lopez and Ober available for '24 as of right now starters. We hope Paddock will make it back by the end of this year. That leaves room for 4-5 slots for guys expected to start the year at triple A or free agent signings for expected '24 rotation needs. Time this year for the triple A guys to make major league starts has to be made, even if that means giving the starters at the major league level planned start days off. The guys in the regular rotation may benefit health wise for a planned missed start every 4th or 5th start.
  13. The hope of spring training is in the air.
  14. Lee or Lewis. Lewis or Lee. IDK. I'm looking forward to see them playing side by side in the Twins infield for years to come.
  15. I think i would keep Lewis away from second base, at least for this year. Try to reduce the risk of hard slides away from his injured knee. With the way the roster is, everyone coming up will probably need to play multiple positions. Unless there are several trades this year between now and the trade deadline. I'd expect at least 1 trade. He should be one of the guys backing up shortstop, along with Farmer.
  16. Jeffers could be added to list missing 10 weeks with a broken thumb. Probably should add Lewis and Paddock to the list also.
  17. We seem to have a wave coming late this year and early 24. It looks like another wave could come late 24& 25. I'm thinking ERod is in that 24/25 wave.
  18. We have many minor league players getting close to the majors with no set position. No big deal, they will eventually find them a spot that works best for the team. For Julian, I think we eliminate shortstop, center field and catcher. Have him split time between left field, dh and first base, with that occasional second base game. Like everyone else, I think his best position is hitter.
  19. Farmer is a free agent in 2025 and Gordon a free agent in 2028. So for multiple years the two could provide solid backups at a near starting level all around the field. For a team that stresses the ability to play multiple positions, I think they can cover everywhere on the field but the mound. As far as Kepler and Gallo go, I don't think either will be here beyond this year and the team needs to develop players in their position going forward.
  20. There are not many pitchers who can be starters long term with only one quality pitch. He definitely needs to bring one of his secondary pitches up to a quality pitch level. I'm thinking that teams will start catching up to his fastball and he won't have another pitch to get by on. Right now I see him as a 4/5 starter with an upside of possibly a 3.
  21. I have no problem with him being ranked #7, or even #4, or #15 or #25. What I like is the team took the gamble, jumped out there and grabbed him because he was available and had a high pre-draft projection. Over the years we've drafted plenty of middle relievers, utility infielders or 4th outfielders. Let alone all the picks that never made it to the pros for a cup of coffee. I would rather the team took the high upside gamble and failed, then took the sure bet whose upside will fill a reserve role on the roster. Its all right if we like our players better than other projection services, but we should like them as least as well as those other services. Personally I like the thought that he could be an ace, better than the thought that he could be an oft injured middle inning reliever.
  22. It was interesting to see that he only played 41 games at shortstop in '22. Just 4 errors, but only 41 games. In '21, 45 games at shortstop with 17 errors. Quite an improvement, but he hasn't played a lot of shortstop yet.
  23. Looks like infielders will play like they did for a hundred years. But not really, positioning will require a bit more thought and there were always holes between fielders, but not many hitters seem to take advantage of them. The batters that always had wide open bunt hits available, will lose more of those opportunities that they didn't use.
  24. I'd save a spot in the rotation for him to earn. A lot of the time I don't think batters were ready to hit against a guy who was immediately back on the mound and ready with the next pitch. This year they will have to be, but that doesn't mean he will lose his effectiveness.
  25. I wouldn't want both Kepler and Gallo in the lineup on the same day. An opponents starting pitcher would love to see them together in the lineup. One a strikeout and the other a grounder to second. lineup Polanco 2b, Correa ss, Kirilloff 1b, Buxton cf, Miranda 3b, Larnach lf, Vazquez c, Gallo rf, Gordon dh
