  1. Projected lineup Julian 2b Lewis 3B (Farmer until Lewis is back) Polanco DH Kirriloff 1B Jeffers C(60% of games/Vazquez 40%) Wallner LF Larnach RF Taylor/Kiersey - (platoon until Martin is healthy) Correa SS Bench- Buxton (or DL), Castro, Vazquez, Solano Trade if possible Gallo, Kepler for relievers or low A prospects Hope that Stewart & Theilbar are back soon, maybe Paddock in August. Shoot for playoffs without as much swing & miss in the lineup. Ride the starting pitching. Try to score 3 runs in 4 games a week or 4 runs in 3 games a week. Maybe even occasionally 5.
  2. You can be the best coach in the world and coach all you want to, but if the player is simply incapable of or simply does not want to change, there is not much you can do. If owners and thus management wants certain in game results, such as homeruns, then as a coach you have to coach in keeping with team goals. The offense was structured with one type of scoring in mind, the homerun. Unfortunately that's what most of the fans in the stands want. Someone hits a homerun and fans standup and scream, then they go back to staring at their phones or go to the concession stand to get something to eat. Owners like fans who go to the concession stand.
  3. We have guys on this roster who are not succeeding and have not been good for several years. Are we planning to sign them for the next couple years to fail next year and the year after. Since we already not scoring enough to win, then there is nothing to lose by letting them go and putting the "younger" guys in and getting ready for next year. They may not succeed but then again they might. If they aren't going to succeed trade them too. Who wants to be sitting here at next years allstar break and seeing if we can't find some hitting. The Twins lineup as been terrible for 4 years now. This years is the worst but other than 2019 the team hasn't average more than 4.5 runs per game in 6 years.
  4. RIP 2023 - Last one out turn off the lights
  5. You seperated what I said. Try reading it like I wrote it. I could start with 1=1 = 2 if that would help.
  6. Gonzalez with a 30 runner rating. to me grades out as a large slow slugger. I know they love these types, but I hope they don't go there. Since Dollander in your draft goes number 12 that comes out to a first round price of $5.04 million. That's about a 2 million savings off the #5 pick level. Do you think that Gonzalez is going for under $5million to give them extra money to sign Meyer?
  7. I wouldn't trade any prospects in the top 20 to do anything this year. We can easily free up 8 to 10 spaces on the roster in the off season for next year's rule 5 additions. If we add a hitter we need to get rid of 1 or 2. I would definitely be planning off season over hauls to the swing hard and strikeout hitting approach.
  8. Some say that it takes 3 singles to score a run and that's why singles aren't any good. I've never learned how many strikeouts it takes to score a run. The Twins are 8th in the majors in homeruns, but 21st in hits and 21st in runs scored. They do lead in strikeouts. Interesting but everyone in the central has scored fewer runs than the Twins.
  9. I thought about that, but hope not. I agree second base is booked.
  10. Berrios wouldn't still be with the Twins, trade or no trade. He was going to sign somewhere else. I know that Martin is expected to see time at second base for St Paul, but Stevenson or not, I think Martin should be playing center field full time. I'd like to see Martin and Julian batting 1&2 for the Twins next year, if not September.
  11. I didn't like the signing when it was made and don't like it now. It's more an opportunity lost thing. The lost opportunity was finding out about two guys sitting in 3A. We are simply treading water with him, its time to move on.
  12. Kepler is hitting about where he has for the past 4 years. Trade him if possible, if not dfa. Gallo is hitting pretty much in line with his average years. He is a career 199 hitter w/about 25 homers. Trade him if possible. Put in Wallner and Larnach and try to answer questions for next year. Offer Gray 2 year extension, if he is not interested trade him. Maeda trade if possible. See if you can get a decent trade offer for Polanco. Hang unto him if not, he won't be back in the lineup until August at the earliest. We don't need to trade anyone, if we don't mind Kepler & Gallo riding the end of the bench. Not being in a rush could get us our best offers. I wouldn't trade for anyone to try and bolster this year team. Give Kirilloff, Lewis(when he's back), Julian, Wallner, Larnach, Kiersey, Jeffers, Lee, & Williams, Miranda & maybe Martin as much playing time as possible. Might have to rotate some guys between the majors & 3A.
  13. Can we add Wallner in rightfield, Kiersey in center and Williams at Dh?
  14. I would go with Dollander at 5. The Twins, as bad as they have looked this year hitting, have a greater need for top of rotation pitching. The college pitcher could be up in '25 probably 26. The high school bat is probably 4-5 years away. The Twins do have a few outfield bats rising in the system, while the top of rotation starters looks pretty thin. Hopefully there is an all star outfielder somewhere in the group. Dollander going at #5 on this list, #7 at Baseball America and #9 By Callis is not that much of a reach. Plus he started as the #1 on the early boards.
  15. I hope Kepler has attracted the attention of someone who might trade for him.
  16. I see that Martin is getting time in center field in his rehab. Hopefully that plays out and he recovers to hit as he did last fall in Arizona.Maybe we can see him in September if not sooner.
  17. The Twins don't seem to be very good at drafting and developing hitters. I am not saying the pitchers available are better players than the hitters, but maybe the team needs to go with their strength development wise. Take the best pitcher available.
  18. I'm hoping Raya is up in '25, along with Prielipp. From a health stand point, Raya may be ahead but he needs to get extended later this year or waiting until next? Cory Lewis is also in that rotation and could get here next year? Hidalgo could also be in the rotation but needs to find the strike zone more.
  19. If the Twins were heading to the World Series, I'd be OK with pinch hitting for him. As it is, its better for the future if he gets his ab's against all types of pitchers and all situations. Of the 17 hits the Twins got in the Atlanta series, Kirilloff got 25%.
  20. Nine games left until the allstar break. 6 against Baltimore and 3 against KC. What are the odds of them going 3-6? I don't expect any changes this week, but the last two weeks of July should be at least interesting. I'm betting the front office is hoping someone will give them a set of golf clubs for a couple of those players.
  21. If I were going to shake things up, I would bat Correa 9th and Buxton 8th. The next day I would swap them around. I wouldn't bat Gallo or Kepler at all.
  22. The lineup shouldn't be based on the highest priced players in the middle. Mix everybody up in the other spots, but put the most expensive in the middle. Exception is Gallo, I think he's third most expensive. But I guess you can't have 5 guys batting 9th.
  23. Nine homers in a half season for a guy hitting over 300 on his way to 45-50 stolen bases. With the way this team has been hitting this year, are we really complaining about a guy who doesn't swing from his heals on every pitch. I applaud him.
  24. My interest has definitely waned this month. Since they can't hit and won't change their approach, there is not much to see by watching a game. I check scores and the summary is always the same. 2 runs, 4 hits and 14 strikeouts.
