  1. The real fans know they shouldn't but what does the owners say.
  2. I'm not much caring if he makes the Twins this year. I would like to see him get a lot better and kick the door in next year. The team does need at least 1/2 dozen players doing that.
  3. The Twins definitely need a lot of help in their lineup. For too any years they have had below hitting batters in the 3-5 spots, let alone the rest of the lineup. It wouldn't take too much for him to force his way into the top 3 hitters in the Twins lineup, with Jeffers out until almost August. It would be much better for the Twins if he could force his way into the 3-5 spots in the lineup instead of the 8-9 spots.
  4. If he can settle in as a average big league first baseman, that'll be better than the Twins have had in 10+ years(?).
  5. Hope so, it's about time we got something from the draft.
  6. Since Mendez hasn't been a real wowwer in the outfield, I think they should give him a long term home at first base. The Twins do need to train some players to cover first and they have a few who can cover the outfield, if they ever stay healthy. Perhaps unlikely to stay at that level, they could use someone with a 977 OPS.
  7. If something like the owners offer comes to fruition, the Twins may almost have to hang unto Jeffers and Ryan, along with Buxton. With a minimum payroll of $175 million the Twins would need some players on the roster that are valued at higher than current minimum wages. I wonder at what point a team needs to reach the minimum, I would think fairly quickly.
  8. Looks like both the Saints and Cedar Rapids players have room to move up when they prove they are ready. Should prove to be an entertaining year even if no championships are coming to the Twins.
  9. I'm thinking that during Saturday's game there will be at least three different pitchers and Sunday the last 2. On Sunday there may also be a third reliever, a repeat of someone from game 1. The order will be shaking out until the end of April at least and then the "earned" order will start to be established.
  10. Last year Lewis hit like crap in his first 80-100 plate appearances. Then it was chocked up to injury and recovery from same. This year he started the same. With any luck maybe he's half way to hitting half decent.
  11. Preilipp in 2026, Rojas in 2027, and Hill in 2028? They don't have too many starters above High A in the whole organization, just Horn at Cedar Rapids and MacLeod at St Paul but he is not a starter anymore.I hope all 3 need to be good.
  12. A real reach maybe but I don't think the Twins are going to win many team awards this year. I'm really hoping Keaschal nails down second base this year. It would be nice to see second base get nailed down this year and is not a position with an open tryouts next spring. It would be great if the team can get to 7 to 8 (non injured) regulars this year so that they could start next year only needing to add one starting position.
  13. I'd like to see Emma get 500+ plate appearances at the major league level this year. True he may be worn out the second half because he has never played that much, but I for one could live with that. He may strikeout in 180 of them, but it would be good to see that couple with 70 walks. Yeah that's 50% of his plate appearances, but if he can combine that with a 360+ OBP with a 20/20 homer/steal season that would be good. Give him 3 years of major league at bats and he could be an allstar.
  14. Will he be 1 of the best 13 pitchers in camp? If so, can he slam the door on other teams for 2-3 innings at a time 2x per week? Does he need to pitch in the style of a 1 inning closer type. i think it would be good if the Twins could have 2-3 pitchers who can shut down other teams for 3 innings at a time. If these guys can prove it at the major league level, then they could role into a starter role when the need arises.
  15. I'd like to see the Twins playing for 2028. Actually I'd prefer to see them playing for the World Series, but that's not happening this year. Anyone that's less than a year away could be brought by the end of May. If that means we run a full time tryout camp with 4-5 more coaches, won't hurt my feelings.
  16. If he has a quality first 90 games, we may be able to get a left handed corner outfielder for him in July. Maybe.
  17. I expect to see a lot of 2-1 5th inning leads turn into 8-2 losses. If I'm watching the game I may turn it off after 5.
  18. I think any further roster moves this year will only cut payroll.
  19. The best part of the team is the starting rotation. With the bullpen as bad as it is currently configured, the starting rotation won't look as good as they should. The starters are most probably coming out in the 6th inning more often than not, leaving with runners on base. How many additional runs will be let score by this pen and of course charged to the starters. The pen record could look real good while the starters look real bad.
  20. I'd say the Twins are halfway between first and last. Actually if they came away with 80 wins this year, that'd be a lot better than I thought. If they at least come away from the year with some real player development at the big league level, then I'd be celebrating.
  21. I thought it was always understood from the very beginning that ownership hamstrung the spending anyway and every way imaginable.
