  1. For players we have now (since I don't think you can plan to add any meaningful free agents) I'd add in Fitzgerald as the main utility infielder and Pereda as backup catcher. I'd also subtract Larnach as a corner outfielder. Hopefully trade him for a relief pitcher even if that's a failed starter in the minors with a very good fastball and some breaking ball, that has a bid of command.
  2. I'm hoping Prielipp gets about 125 innings next year between the Twins and St Paul.
  3. Managers no longer have a hand in developing talent, if they ever did. The team has a whole organization load of people doing that.
  4. The Twins have 2 veterans in Buxton and Jeffers. Lee is finishing his first full year in the majors and Lewis is finishing his 2nd full year. Martin has less than a full season of plate appearances and Keaschall only a third of a season. I don't think Wallner and Larnach are long term outfielders for the Twins. I expect the corners could come from among Jenkins, Gonzalez, Rodriguez, Roden, Outman and Mendez. If Wallner makes the necessary adjustments he could be a good DH. Maybe a good regular DH for a change. Pereda looks like he could be a good backup or at least workable and Fitzgerald could be a decent utility infielder and relief pitcher. Not weighing any other minor leagues that could come up next year, I'd expect the starting lineup to come from the above. Hopefully we have a wave of healthy players in this mix. I'm not sold on Clemens as the regular first baseman, but since the team probably won't sign any free agents. Starters we have plenty, and we will not trade for any unless we get one in return for Lopez or Ryan (who I hope we don't trade). The rotation I expect to be in flux for most of the year The bullpen and someone to play first base on a regular basis that can hit, are the big question marks.
  5. Depending on the rest of the team, I don't think it will matter if they trade Jeffers or resign Vasquez. They could just let Jimenez and Tait grow in the minors for 26 & 27. One of them may be ready to get some major league time by the second half of 27. In the meantime sign a good defensive catchers to work with the pitchers and bring up the best defensive minor league catcher they have.
  6. Klien is 23, a real old timer. 121 strikeouts and 31 walks, in 98 inning. Why do we bother with guys like this. I just wonder if he's a good starter or a top of the bullpen arm next year. Amick 22, I assume if he has the arm for first since he can play third. He got a few more games at first than at third this year. Too bad he missed 2 months. A 307/417/867 batting line looks pretty good for a first year player, It may be 2027 before he gets close to the Twins. But they will probably need a player or 2 by then. Oliveras, another oldtimer at 22. Looks like he needs work on his control, but also appears he good be a very good bullpen arm in 2 years. He walked 57 batters and gave up 66 hits in 90 innings.
  7. I think the Twins definitely need a rest and recovery department. It may need sports shrinks besides coaches.
  8. Twins win Ober wins. Chances of a 100 loss year are eliminated.
  9. Seems like all teams try to get their starters to that 'magic" 5 inning mark so that the starter can get a victory in the game. That should be done away with like probably 30 years ago. I don't think many (any) starting pitcher can hold up to 100 pitches per start and pitch 30 games a year. The new norm will probably fall to 75-80 pitches. With all the ridiculous changes baseball has made the last 5 years fixing the 5 inning rule should be easy enough to do.
  10. September is a good month to take a long and perhaps final look at a lot of players. There seems to be about a dozen players who could easily be removed from the 40 man list perhaps more. I think most of the players under discussion are not more than filler under the best(I hope) of circumstances. We are not really seeing that many potential starters for next year and I don't expect to. We don't want to get too many on the major league roster and promote bad habits or negative attitudes among them.
  11. I rank them Jimenez, Morris, then Rosario, although Jimenez would probably be the last to see the majors. I always thought the cutoff for rookie status was 150 plate appearances. Keaschall is now at 131 and could get to 150 by the end of next week.
  12. Bradley looks like a solid middle of the rotation starter as least for now and next year. I wonder how many years he has until free agency. He started in the Gulf Coast League in 2018. Hopefully he puts more on the table before the end of next year. It was interesting to see that he made 10 starts at Triple A as well as 21 starts for Tampa Bay in 2023.
  13. Nah. Friedman is used to having hundreds of millions of dollars every off season to spend so he'd never get anything done with just $1.35 for free agents.
  14. I like Winokur to stay in the infield. Although I would start playing him at first base next year 2-3 games a week. He's proven to be athletic enough to be a good infielder and should be able to handle first base at a high level. I am in disagreement with those who think first base is reserved for players who can't play other positions well. A first baseman who can catch errant throws and turn them into outs, as well as having the speed to run deep down the lines to catch popups could make an extra 2-3 outs a game with his high level of play. This team has shown it needs good fielders all over the field and that includes first base.
  15. Actually we picked up 3 left handed corner outfielders. The third no seems to talk about.
  16. I think the Twins will find it tough to finish outside the 4-5 range. I don't think they can finish 1-2 but I doubt they get as low(high?) as #6. So next year maybe a lot about watching college ball and following draft picks. I wonder where they finish in the supplemental rounds.
  17. Since ownership hasn't filled in management on the direction they are taking the team, its hard for anyone to know which way to go. A catcher, yes they need a catcher as long as they are a baseball team. They may just bring up someone from double A if Jeffers get injured next year. 2027 will have to take care of itself.
  18. I think they float Ryan, Lopez, and Ober. They may not get offered enough to make it worthwhile to trade Ober, but I can see them checking his value. Ryan is probably pushing for a trade and maybe the most valuable. I expect they may want to keep Lopez but will get an outstanding offer for him and trade him also. Doesn't leave much in the way of experienced starters for them. Starting Corp Ober(?), SWR, Bradley, Abel, Mathews, Festa, Morris
  19. Anymore I don't know if it so much is the player ready for the majors it's more about will the coaching staff be ready to work with the player. Maybe they need a transitional staff? In any case since the Twins will have one of the top 3 selections in next years draft, I think they should plan to work with the minor league players from the first foot in the door next spring.
  20. Another step closer. Depending maybe he gets some time late September in the Twins dugout and a pinch hit or 2. Maybe even a start. Of course what I would really like to see at the end of St Paul's season is Walker play the last however many games on the Twins schedule.
