  1. Signing the lefty was a move we liked. Now I hope the clearing a space for him will be a move we really like.
  2. They could cut someone, or may there be a trade in the works that hasn't been announced yet. How long do they have before they need to put someone on the roster? He has to pass a physical first, could that be put off for a week?
  3. I hope we extend pitchers. Not for 6-8 years, but 3 or possibly 4, but no more.
  4. "If" Paddack is moved to the pen, that would increase the amount spent on the bullpen from $12mil to $19mil. That more than 50% increase on the pen should put in right there with the best in baseball.
  5. Its kind of hard to squeeze 13-14 names into a 10 player list But for the best 10 this list works, I expect to see all of them in the majors by the end of 26. Except where will they all play?
  6. I don't think the Twins are in a position to outbid other teams for Cease. They could out bid some "also ran" if nobody else was trying to acquire Cease. But to deal a lot of prospect capital without a supporting budget for at least a division winner, could set the team back several years. I've seen too many deals where it was better to be the loser in the trade competition than the winner.
  7. Looks like the Twins got a lot of bang for their bucks. The Dodgers probably spent about a billion $ more. Maybe about 1 1/2 billion difference. In other words the appx selling price of the team right now. Looking at this I am amazed the Twins managed to be this close.
  8. The roster is still more non base stealer than base stealer. Martin and Castro are probably the only base stealers available to Baldelli. Kersey if he makes the squad can run. Anybody else will at best be a 50% of the time base stealer, or catch the other team while they sleep base stealer. Rodriguez might when he gets here. Bunting is not much different, except you could add Lee to the bunters. I'm not sure about Martin, but he has bunted well in Fall Ball - that is the Arizona League. Draft wise it's mostly geared towards guys that can hit the ball hard. Not too much speed in the group. Of course most guys seem to be bulked up to play football, consequently they get hurt more often from not being flexible enough for the sport they play. It's going to be hard to change this roster into something it's not.
  9. To have a continuous pitching pipeline you need to develop pitching at all levels. 3 years from he could be one of the top pitchers in that pipeline.
  10. I don't think the Twins ever concentrated on him learning that position. The Twins focus has primarily been on him playing the infield and being a home run hitter. Sometimes you just have to make a decision with a player and let him learn. The Twins have focused on him being a utility player, like they do with too many players. There have been numerous articles on "Twins Daily" about players coming up and not being good defensively. This isn't the first. Unfortunately they also tried to push into being a power hitter. Just help him be the best he can be.
  11. I always walk around the house and yard barefoot. Its the best way for your feet to strengthen and the foot nerves to naturally react to walking surfaces. Most of the plantar facsiitis problems started around the early 1970 when all shoes started having heals. If you were born long after that, you probably think its normal to have heals on your shoes. If it was normal people would be born with bigger heals. They are not just in case you haven't noticed. Stop wearing shoes with heals, get a pair of minimalist shoes. That is shoes that are flat with a minimum of protection. No heals, just enough soul to keep the nails and broken glass out of your feet. Even your doctor doesn't seem to know this.
  12. It was good for an update on these 3. I would like to hear any news on Lewis, Lee, Duran and maybe Canterino. Also does anybody know anything about how Emma's hand surgery went?
  13. That's the way he manages. Get use to it or go back to cheering on the White Sox. You never have anything good to say about the Twins anyway.
  14. The team has a lot of good players trying to find traction on their careers. I look for Sands, Alcala, SWR, & Festa to do some growing on the pitching side. Also expect Lee, Lewis, Wallner and Miranda to cement their positions on the team. Along with adding potentially Keaschall, Rodriguez, and Mathews the team should keep adding and growing.
  15. Only 25% of all major league players played more than 120 games last year. Injuries and poor play are chronic all across baseball.
  16. I don't think adding Cease makes the Twins any more interesting to fans unless it comes with new ownership. A new owner may be more than willing to pay the $13.5 for Cease. At least I hope so or else the team isn't going anywhere so why bother adding Cease. Now if SD really wants Vazquez, then let them come with the offer. If that includes Cease and the twins add something, maybe pay $5mil in salary. I can see adding Larnach because he will probably have trouble finding playing time later this year.
  17. People seem to forget how bad the team was for the 8-9 years prior to Falvey coming over. They just want to fire everyone and trade all the players. There was only 1 year where the team had a almost go for it attitude from ownership. You notice it was only one year before they were told to cut payroll and the team was put up for sale. Or maybe the Pohlads gave up when they saw the Mets, Dodgers and Yankees spending like drunken bandits with payrolls over $300mil. They never really loosened the purse strings and the Team was entirely dependent on developing the farm system. They signed a couple of players. Mostly Correa and traded for Lopez. There was never any $50-75 million thrown in from ownership. The Twins young players would have to collectively turn into super stars to compete with the Dodgers. This may be an important year, but only for someone to buy the team and throwing way millions of dollars to compete against the Yankees and Red Sox from a spending perspective. Otherwise maybe no one will want to jump into the ownership zoo.
  18. If the Twins "need" to cut budget the Twins could replace Paddack in both the starter and reliever venue with internal options easier than Vasquez or Castro. This is the first time in years the Twins might actually, maybe, possibly have a bit of surplus on the pitching side. Keeping Paddack also takes away major league development time from Festa and Mathews.
  19. I haven't seen too many owners who appear to want someone else to be the figure head of their organization. Bring in or keep ex-players involved is different, but that is currently done. I'm guessing the ones currently doing just that were the ones that accepted previous requests. Offering someone a small ownership stake to reach out to help bring fans back to the Twins would be different from some one adding money out of pocket to the ownership stake.
  20. Last year SWR averaged about 80 pitches a game. If he can get his stamina up to 90-95 I think we should see a guy closer to a 6 inning pitcher. I don't care that much about strikeouts just get outs. His infield may not have done him many favors last year. Although it was a small sample size, he average about 1/2 the number of groundouts on turf as real grass.
  21. If not else the mid season trade deadline is also a option for a time of trades. Might know who the new owner is by then. Some other playoff bound teams starting catcher might get injured. That would make Vasquez a better trade candidate. True it wouldn't save the 10Mil but it would save the 5 mil most are talking about plus a better minor league prospect I suspect.
