Are Trevor Larnach And Matt Wallner Redundent?
gman replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Where did you get the idea that there would be a massive roster shakeup this winter? I'd really like to see some support for your wild ideas. Or do you expect people to buy crap just because you through it out there? -
The quality of Twins pitchers make me wonder about the overall pitching in the league this year. Taking nothing away from Ross or Rosario, but you can only hit against the pitchers you face. Does anyone know of a place to review stats for the AFL?

I'd non-tender all 4. Leave the space four possible trade or other signings. Could circle back in the spring if the player and roster spots are still available.

The Path to an Elite Minnesota Twins Bullpen in 2025
gman replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don't think I would spend much time at the bargain bins. At least not this winter. I think they could have 6 above average to elite arms next year. But I suspect they will utilize at least 8 other arms in the pen.- 47 replies

Seems like with lewis and others growing at 3A we have no need for scrap heap pitchers at 6-8 mil per year. We know some of the starters are going to pitch in the pen which again means we don't have to reach into the retread line for relief. Hopefully this all adds up to a #3 or better staff in a couple years. That should add up 85-95 wins with regularity. Teams always win with pitching has been the mantra for ever.

Twins Trade Candidate Breakdown: Chris Paddack
gman replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This is another too often injured player that the Twins roster seems to be full of. Trade him if possible or put him in the bullpen where I think he would have the most value. -
Carlos Correa Trade Buzz Is Heating Up
gman replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Trading Correa means you think that shuffling the deck going forward with the hopes of adding to the roster for future years and not planning to win more in 2025. Not trading Correa means you think the roster can win more and get deep into the playoffs the way it is constructed in 2025. Or maybe no one else is willing to pay Correa the contract he has. After all no one else stepped up 2 years ago when his other 2 suiters with drew their contract offers and after 2 injury filled years he hasn't greatly increased his value. In which case you're just stuck where you are. -
If they had to chop most of ten million off the payroll, then Vazquez is your only option. With 1 year left on his contract they would only create a giant hole by trading Jeffers. At the end of the day there are only 2 holes on the roster. Left handed reliever and owner. I don't know which is more valuable or more difficult to find.

I think Larnach, Buxton and Wallner are your strating outfield next year left to right. Martin gets the utility role plus frequent backup in center. Castro can play outfield, if he's still on the team. That's 5 guys to cover your outfield. I expect that Rodriguez and Keaschall could both get playing time in the outfield in 2025. If they get pulled in as early injury replacements for a few weeks, that can easily be their intro to the majors. No advantage in signing someone to block a roster spot especially since there apparently no money.

The Twins Should Trade for This Former Gold Glover
gman replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
With the six guys you pointed out as second base options, I would not have considered moving Lewis there. I might however, find. a real good third base specialist to coach him on the position and leave lewis there. Probably find a throwing instructor also. Maybe Keaschal can get some time in the outfield at St Paul early next year and be that right handed bat by June. He also played some first base. -
The Twins Should Trade for This Former Gold Glover

Why so soon this year? -
I guess it shows how important WAR is to people picking MVP candidates.

Trading Jax and/or Duran means we gave up on 2025 already. Staying at $130mil payroll, means the same thing. Unfortunately announcing to everyone that you are not increasing payroll gives the competition a leg up.

You can't trade from surplus, until you develop surplus. The team has a lot of players who "could be" good, but health is the main thing holding them back seemingly. The team players for the most part have not developed a lot of "surplus" to be traded for team improvements.

Every year there are players who have been on the farm for 5 or 6 years that get cut. If you look at the age of 3A players you will see guys who are often 28-33 still hoping for a shot. The Twins will probably add some guys in the this age bracket with 6-8 years on the farm to fill out rosters. The odds are one of them will spend some time on the Twins roster next year for a few innings. Several relief pitchers who have played for a half dozen teams will make the team for a while.

Unfortunately now we will never know how well or poorly Kirilloff would have done over a full season when healthy. I believe last season he was injured during the Dodger series as far back as last April. His play fell off dramatically after I think the game of April 8 or 9, I don't remember for sure. I'm sure there are Chicago fans on this sight happy to see him go.

Minnesota Twins Arbitration Dilemma: 1B/OF Alex Kirilloff
gman replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. Kirilloff was placed on the 60 day disabled list on July 30. If we would have stayed on the sixty day list he would have been out for the remainder of the year. Ultimately he stayed on the 60 day disabled list. He was on the 10 day disabled list from June 13 until July 30 when he was transferred to the 60. The listed reason for going on the 10 day list was back issues. Its not inconceivable that while ramping up for a rehab assignment he re-injured his back. -
He will probably start with all batters on the 40 man roster in spring training. I would also expect him to spend this winter interviewing players and watching lots of film. I think he needs to be involved with hiring assistant hitting coaches. Hopefully he gets time in with Rodriguez next spring, who is also on the 40 man roster. Good luck with him bringing players up to their max potential.

Emmanuel Rodriguez Is Coming In Hot
gman replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I suspect that Buxton won't start one hundred games in center. Assuming he is healthy at the start of the year, Emma will be at ST Paul for April and May at least probably. He only got 30 plate appearances there this year and struck out 12 times.
