  1. When you go to a game and only 10-12 thousand are showing up to watch a first place team, no matter the paid attendance. Of those in attendance 9000 are in line, always, to buy food and most of the rest are studying their phone, you only have a couple hundred actually watching the game. But if some hits a homer, then everybody stands up and asks what happened, then go back to their food and phones. How many will option to pay for streaming? Maybe more than buy tickets, but I think baseball did this to them selves.
  2. I'm looking forward to seeing the Twins develop as power, not just in the central, but in the Al as a whole. I don't expect them to win the World Series and I won't be disappointed if they don't even get there. They got a lot of young talent that is starting to matriculate and should add some more this year.
  3. It certainly looks like our top 3 minor league teams could have very good rotations. It's especially nice to see the talent at St Paul. The team pitching looks like it could have a continue flow of starters available. Doesn't look like we need to get the last guys available in free agency.
  4. I would love to see him as a regular LF/RF batting seventh and scaring pitchers who face him with anyone on base. There should be enough hitters throughout the lineup to cover him and so we don't go through years with only 1 or 2 hitters in the lineup that pitchers can just pitch around. I hope he shows up this year as a 30 homer guy with 80-100 RBI's.
  5. I think Kirilloff has more impact on the Twins long term plans. A middle of the order bat with very good hitting skills and high expected OPS, the Twins need all they can get. The first half last year hitting on any given game was Julian, Kirilloff and Jeffers, the veterans were not contributing much. I hope Alcala has a good year and strings several years together. He may start at St Paul, but I hope he makes it up soon. Miranda, is probably lowest on the totem pole for this year, but next year Santana and Kepler will probably be gone. If Kepler regresses to his usual hitting level, Miranda may be up sooner.
  6. I see that last man in the pen usually as the "break glass in case of emergency" guy. With Funderburk, Alcala and possibly Canterino available, I see this 3rd inning guy as someone who could really stop an early game blowout.
  7. For 2024 I expect Soto to spend time if not the whole year in the FCL. Maybe sometime at Ft Myers, would be advancement enough. Further than that and I think his prospect status would soar closer to the top of the lists.
  8. I think Alcala will have some good seasons in the major, I hope they are with the Twins. They spent a lot on talent (Pressly) and time waiting for him to make good.
  9. I would take a Lopez #1 and Ober/Ryan as a #2/2 tie. Hopefully by September we have at least 3 pitchers as playoff quality against any team.
  10. If the Twins play as well as projected, I doubt anyone plays over 135 games this year especially their higher priced players. Hopefully they'll be stronger and fresher for the playoffs.
  11. Looks like Wallner struck out at the same rate as Buxton. All the hitting numbers for Wallner were better. As far as the question about adjustments go, I think that is the big question every player has every year.
  12. If DaShawn Keirsey and Austin Martin bust out of the gate this year, I hope they don't spend all year with an ineffective outfielder taking their possible big league development time this year.
  13. Anybody know how Camargo ranks among Triple A catchers on the defensive side?
  14. I have no problem with Dobnaks contract, I just wish he had been able to regain his pre-injury form and hope he still can.
  15. I think that Lewis and Correa will be a very solid and potential all-star left side of the infield for years to come. Add Julian , Lee and Kirilloff to the right side and the infield could be well covered along with Dh for a similar number of years. The outfield could be somewhat in turmoil for the next 3 years, but there are good assets on the way to cover there as well. I don't think moving Lewis around really solves anything long term. Let him get established at third, leave him alone there and find others to cover weak areas in the field and lineup.
  16. Maybe it was a fluke season, but in Miami in 2022 he struck out 97 batters in 67 innings between triple A and the Marlins. For the Marlins he allowed 1 inherited runner to score in 24 innings. Then last year for the Mets his numbers all blew up. Maybe Pablo and the Twins coaches know something that they can get him back to 2022 on.
  17. People seem to be forgetting, but there are super star players at third base. Even a few have made the hall of fame over time. Having a player like Lewis, nail down third base, for the next ten years and playing at an allstar level would be the ultimate we should expect. Leave him there and don't worry about it. We have other players that can be moved to left field or second base or anywhere else for that matter.
  18. If they prove by the end of the year that they are the best pen in the game, that's soon enough for me. Of course proving every game inning by inning would be even better, but I'll take a full seasons result as evidence.
  19. I think they need to keep Buxton on a very short lease when it comes to stealing bases and crashing into fences to catch fly balls. I'd like st see him get to the end of April without going on the IL for 10 days.
  20. Sounds like he could be pitching on short innings this year and kept at Low A no matter how well he throws. It's probably better to get him through a full year, healthy, than anything else.
  21. Not just Lewis, but I hope 6-8 or more of the current crop of prospects they want to hang unto long term. 8, 10,12 years or even more.
  22. Wait for the season to end to make comparisons. That's a good statement. If Gray pitches to a career norm this year, he will get 125-130 innings with about a 4.00 era. That's about what we have to get out of someone to replace him this year. He was a very good pitcher last year, but its not like we need to expect to get a pitcher every year to come in and pitch to a Gray like 2023 season. Even Gray isn't likely to pitch like Gray did last season. I think Paddack can pitch similar to what Gray is likely to do this year, with Desclafani matching Maeda last year.
  23. The higher the top off season contract signing the more unsigned free agents there are. Seems like the players may want to think about whether or not they want all the money going to just a handful of players. Just like the teams may want to think about just a handful of teams getting all the top free agents.
  24. If a non-optionable pitcher is pitching so poorly that they need to be replaced, then its highly possible that no one else will pick them up immediately when they get released. That pitcher may just wind up back at St Paul.
  25. I think it's more important to decide who the 1 inning guys should be (no more than 2-3) and prep the others to 2 or more innings.
