    People seem to be forgetting, but there are super star players at third base. Even a few have made the hall of fame over time. Having a player like Lewis, nail down third base, for the next ten years and playing at an allstar level would be the ultimate we should expect. Leave him there and don't worry about it. We have other players that can be moved to left field or second base or anywhere else for that matter.

    If they prove by the end of the year that they are the best pen in the game, that's soon enough for me. Of course proving every game inning by inning would be even better, but I'll take a full seasons result as evidence.

    I think they need to keep Buxton on a very short lease when it comes to stealing bases and crashing into fences to catch fly balls. I'd like st see him get to the end of April without going on the IL for 10 days.

    Sounds like he could be pitching on short innings this year and kept at Low A no matter how well he throws. It's probably better to get him through a full year, healthy, than anything else.

    Not just Lewis, but I hope 6-8 or more of the current crop of prospects they want to hang unto long term. 8, 10,12 years or even more.

    Wait for the season to end to make comparisons. That's a good statement. If Gray pitches to a career norm this year, he will get 125-130 innings with about a 4.00 era. That's about what we have to get out of someone to replace him this year. He was a very good pitcher last year, but its not like we need to expect to get a pitcher every year to come in and pitch to a Gray like 2023 season. Even Gray isn't likely to pitch like Gray did last season. I think Paddack can pitch similar to what Gray is likely to do this year, with Desclafani matching Maeda last year.

    The higher the top off season contract signing the more unsigned free agents there are. Seems like the players may want to think about whether or not they want all the money going to just a handful of players. Just like the teams may want to think about just a handful of teams getting all the top free agents.

    If a non-optionable pitcher is pitching so poorly that they need to be replaced, then its highly possible that no one else will pick them up immediately when they get released. That pitcher may just wind up back at St Paul.

    I think it's more important to decide who the 1 inning guys should be (no more than 2-3) and prep the others to 2 or more innings.

    I hope they implement courses in how to stay injury free. Teach him how not to ram into walls going full tilt and how not to dive 25 feet to catch low drives. Maybe not worry about if he can play center or not, and just let play left and focus on hitting 390.

    I am glad they are both pitching for the Twins system and climbing the prospect ladder. I think Festa can some starts for the Twins this year and perhaps next year for Raya. The more guys they can bring in as possible mid rotation starters the better chance one of them will move up to the top of the rotation.

    I don't think the front office wanted to DFA Gordon, or else they would have done so before the arbitration hearing. On the other hand, I don't think they wanted to use a roster space for him either. I think if they didn't find a trade partner. he would have been on the roster to start the year. So Miami helped the Twins put by providing a lefty reliever and opening a roster space. I don't think the Twins are opening the year with 9 relievers so Gordon's spot will be taken by a bench bat of some kind. If Buxton is not ready to play at the start of the year, the spot may go to Martin. If Buxton is ready to play, the spot may go to Miranda, Larnach or Martin. I don't think it goes to Larnach or Martin because I think they would prefer that those 2 play fulltime in 3A.

    I think we have a right handed bat already or soon will have. Besides possibly Martin, we have Lee or Lewis who might wind up spending time in left. They will be in the lineup and we can't have 3 dh's at the same time, last I heard anyway. Only 1 gets third.

    I would like to see Buxton actually have some good years in a Twins uniform. In reality I think we'll still be hearing about well if he just stays healthy he'll be a n MVP. I think the fact that he can't stay healthy will continue to force the Twins into fill ins with the Celestino's and Gordons.

    I looking forward to Lee being shoe horned into the lineup this year, ERod next year and Jenkins in 2026.

    Does anyone know if his fastball made the mph jump between starting and relieving? Was he throwing, for instance, the FB at 91 as a starter and has now jack it up to 94 as a reliever. Or did he not make any speed increase on his fastball?

    I think the Twins are working on their post season starters. The way to add post season starters is to play in the post season. Prior to last season Pablo had only pitched in 5 post season innings in 2020, but everyone was considering him the ace or at least co-ace. I think we have a good rotation with Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Varland & Paddack. Not sure about Desclaflani. I also think we add 1 or 2 more by the end of this season with Fiesta, Raya and perhaps Richardson. Next year probably a couple more. Most of the guys you read about as free agents or trade possibilities with built up track records have arm troubles already or seemingly soon will. I expect the Twins to make the playoffs this year, but no matter who they trade for this team is not yet a world series contender. If the lineup stabilizes this year, then next year might be the year they contend for a AL championship.

    I'd like to see them work him up to 5 innings per start this year. That may require some periods of time where he is starting every 6th day instead of very 5th. This should get him to 3 times through lineups at times and at the same time conserve his number of pitches.

    I don't see Gordon on the Twins roster at the end of spring training. Larnach and Miranda are depth in 3A to start the year and will be injury replacements or bench bats when they get up. I don't see Larnach on the roster at the end of the season. Kirilloff will play most every day and probably bat in the 3 to 5 spots, with the occasional off day against a tough lefty. Santana won't play as much as people seem to be suggesting, I'm guessing less than 100 games. His bat seemed to have slowed last year.

    I believe, not know, that most of the reason he played the infield more than outfield last year was to allow his elbow to fully heal by making short throws from second rather than try to uncork long throws from the outfield. Of course I could be wrong, second base is also more valuable on the trade market.

    I can see Martin and Julian rotating out of the lead off spot. I think full time I would prefer Martin to lead off and Julian batting second.. That would be a pair with very high OBP and let the guys behind them knock in a bunch of runs. Are they really going to grove fastballs to Julian so that Martin doesn't run amuck.

    Looking at stuff plus all pitchers at 3A are rated then SWR looks very good compare to them. For me its looking at his second half numbers and watching him pitch last year made me think he belongs in that top 8 starting pitchers for the big club, maybe top 7. I expect him to start the year at St Paul, but agree that he gets starts with the Twins. I think Varland comes first, but think he is second.

    More steady lineup, that is consistent hitting all year rather than just last 2 months. Bullpen has more depth which hopefully means fewer injuries to top arms. The rotation is down one arm from last year in Gray. Because of lack of hitting they lost more than they won in his starts so conceivably they could come out ahead in the win column during his replacements starts. Lastly keep fingers crossed for better health as a team.

    this was the best team ahead of 87 & 91. I watched all 3 and its not even close. I agree with Topgunn if it was about championships then what was this whole exercise for.

    If needed, we could probably sign the equivalent any time throughout the year. Why make space now?
