  1. I'd like to see Gonzalez get some major league play this year instead of languishing at the 3A. The team needs bats and they really need to find out if these kids WILL HIT at the major league level.
  2. Obviously Joe wanted a different model than most of the other family members. I expect the team to follow the don't spend don't really try to compete model. Give the money to the poor owners.
  3. I wish him the best. I hope he finds his discipline and focus.
  4. Plus a good high level minor league pitcher.
  5. I think at this time I would look at the top ten players available regardless of position. I think the Twins get too locked in at looking for the best short stop available. So far that has not worked out too well for them. They really need hitting so I would lean towards the best hitters available unless another Paul Skenes falls to them.
  6. I could see Jeffer's playing first base 70-80 games, along with about 50 games at catcher. Keep Jackson and Susac sharing catching duties and Jeffer's to play about a third of the schedule. That 1/3 for Jeffer's may trickle down towards the end of next year.
  7. I am on the "we'll know more after the owners meeting" boat. But then again I'm also on the "they'll go ahead and blow everything up boat". I just hope my two boats don't run into each other.
  8. I would love to see 2-3 players per year pushing for the major league roster over the next 5 years. And probably beyond that.
  9. Unfortunately the Twins haven't done much in the way of player development in the past 20 years. I think the last era of developing two way players was the early 2000's.
  10. If we were going to open a spot for Jordan before the draft anyway to choose a relief pitcher we wanted more and were afraid of losing out on Jordan, just cut a trade for him.
  11. I just hope for a couple more Twins players earning pre-arb bonus next year.
  12. Besides a decent left field combination, they could fill the #2 spot in the order. Hoping that will insure better on base percentage and thus more base runners. However, Martin hit better against right hander's than did the left handed Roden. I expect Buxton will lead off again, although I would prefer him hitting third or fourth.
  13. They were also lucky to be able to unload Donaldson.
  14. I suspect that the Twins can't sign any free agent for a price they can get anyplace else. Which of course means they need to pay a premium. Secondly when their reputation was good, or at least ok, they still didn't sign Correa or Donaldson until near the end of spring training and they still paid a premium. And with that Correa still opted out after 1 year.
  15. Unfortunately for Pirates fans I doubt that Skenes will ever lead them anywhere. What ever high points he reaches will be with New York (2), Boston, or Los Angeles. So unless the 27 season. brings real changes to team payroll to balance up the game, Skenes won't bring playoff wins to Pittsburg, Shelton won't bring winning seasons to the Twins and we will continue to see the same half dozen teams dominate the playoffs in baseball.
  16. Maybe the LVP award needs codifying. Something like a minimum of 3 or more major league seasons and over 300 plate appearances as a batter or 50 innings as a pitcher during the season. Got to at have played enough to have made a difference.
  17. I wonder how Cholowski compares to Bobbby Witt at a similar time? I could stand the Twins drafting a Bobby Witt type player.
  18. I agree. I would add "with good knowledge of the strike zone".
  19. Did Funderburk make his changes and improvements after he came up at the end of the season or before at Triple A? I'd like to acknowledge the coach who worked with him to make those improvements.
  20. I think by the end of next year Keaschall could be at first base and Lee at second. Lee has shown the skills to be a decent second baseman. I don't know that Keaschall gets any better to be a full time second baseman and the Twins will need a first baseman. Hopefully Culpepper makes the transition to the majors by mid summer.
  21. However if someone tells you can spend a certain amount, which no one knows what that was, and you start to spend an increase amount while trying to sign free agents and then they jerk the carpet out from under you, then you are stuck with a poor and out of balanced roster and seemingly high payroll.
  22. For now I would place Keaschall and Martin 1,2 in next years order. Maybe Buxton third. it would be nice to have more positions set in the batting order.
