    Good enough move to get a Buxton backup, which we all know he really needs. Celestino can spend most of the year in the minors developing which he really needs. Really opens the door for a Kepler trade, which he really needs.

    Kirilloff plays first. On days when he can't, bring Miranda over and let Farmer play third. Nothing against Farmer but I hope that Kirilloff plays more than 140 games at first and the same for Miranda at third. Maybe get Polanco a few games at first this year and maybe Gordon.

    I spent a lot of summer nights catching the Twins on the radio and watching the games when they were on TV. Still remember the Hamms Bear crashing into the wall to catch a long fly. They were quite a power loaded team in the 60's.

    Lopez another #3 pitcher it looks like? Someone signed for 2023, however. Salas was the Marlins #5 prospect. Seems to play all over the infield, a utility guy? Chourio not ranked although only 17 y.o., a lottery type?

    I hope Lee does good enough that he plays in 2023, 2024 and the Twins sign him to an extension in 2025.

    I have never seen any articles written concerning surgery on his knees. Is it a knee problem or problems with weak muscles around his knees. After all, last winter and again this winter he is spending time strenthening his legs. Muscles support the knees. It is not surprising that after doing leg works outs last winter he set a career high for homeruns.

    I think Rodriguez has the longest road to walk, so probably the least to prove, although it would be great to see him have a complete breakout season. Lewis needs to prove he can be healthy and the skills are real, I don't want him following in Buxton's footsteps. Balazovic, I think, has the most to prove. The Twins really need top end starters and it would be great for the team if he proves he is one of those.

    Maeda's injury recovery was starting to run long last year and by the time he could possibly have helped in the pen, everyone else had joined him on the injured list. Hopefully later this year if Paddock's recovery makes him ready earlier, the team will find(force?) a spot on the roster to include in a playoff run. Hoping he will be a second or very good 3rd in the rotation next year.

    I consider Kirilloff the first baseman until he proves otherwise. By opening day outfielders would include Buxton, Larnach, Gallo, and Gordon (utility infielder and outfielder). Wallner( at St Paul), Celistino(at St Paul), Lewis(utility at St Paul and when he's available). That gives us 3 outfielders to start the season with Gordon in a utility role and backup. First callup would be Wallner, Celistino called up only when Buxton goes down for a 10 game injury. Lewis called up when read,y hopefully by July 1.

    I've been checking up on Moran for quite a few years now and with his results it always seemed he should have moved a lot faster than he has. He has walked quite a few but his minor league career whip is only 1.11 and 1.21 whip combined with only 14 homers aloud in 298 career innings, seems to indicate he has been relatively unhittable.

    They signed Correa to a 6 year plus 4 option years contract. This does not add up to a blow up the team and farm system to win at all cost right now scenario. This is a still a team in very much a development stage. A couple of minor trades are not likely to turn this into a world series team. I expect this year to be very much into find places for the best talent. They do have 3 starters with 1 year remaining on their contracts, someone will get signed, someone traded and someone hurt. Take your pick, all 3 are likely to fit these possibilities. Plus we do need to look at some of the minor league talent this year in case all three are gone next year. I don't think we need to trade low on anybody right now. Unless someone overwhelms us, I would expect more active trades in July then now. Yeah Arraez may not have more trade value than right now, since when did that make a good reason to start trading your best players?

    I think Lee at third base but that will probably be next year now no point to push too hard. Let him get plenty of reps there. When Lewis is ready to play this year, I would rotate him between SS & 2B. The Twins will need a backup shortstop at some point and having a good backup 25-30 games a year won't hurt. Martin should get plenty of time in center during the spring and at St Paul. We all know Buxton will miss 60-70 games at least and if he doesn't, having another good outfielder won't hurt. Plus Martin is on base machine with speed and the Twins will need all the speed they can get. He has only played 2 seasons of minor league ball, but many people are sure in a hurry to write him off. Rotate Julian among 2b, 3b & left field. He is another on base machine with extra base power who will steal bases. Kirilloff at first, Miranda at third and Larnach in left field for this year and let 2024 take care of itself. Trade Kepler and Gallo at soon as possible. Probably trade Polanco, although he is one of the teams best hitters with power and a sure middle of the order bat. He can also take pressure off all the young guys who haven't proven anything yet. Arraez is a proven hitter who can play 2b, 3b & !b, maybe for only a healthy 120 games a year. Very few players across baseball play 150 games a year. Gordon is a good utility guy, but I expect he gets traded sometime this year, maybe after the season is over. We have 8-10 guys who can share DH duties this year.

    Looks like Lewis may be the right handed outfield bat, along with Martin. Both can spend time as utility infielders also. I still think Lee winds up as the future starting third baseman. i think a couple of infielder prospects, along with a couple of veterans on the team get traded before the season starts.

    Walk away. The Twins will still be here in 10 years with whole new players probably. Let Correa go some where else.

    Pretty obviously Celestino lost development time in the minors. If he had played regularly in the minors for 2 years with time to work on his weaknesses he would probably be ready for his role as starting center fielder. Buxton will get the nod as starter, but at most he is just a part time player with no ability to plan when he can play. Unfortunately that means keeping a center fielder on the bench ready to play most of the time but no specific games.

    Possibly, but it didn't work out too well for Lewis.

    I wonder if the people who continue to knock Martin realize that 2022 was only his second in professional baseball? His first minor league season was at double A and the Twins had him repeat, which I think was appropriate. I also wonder if people who knock Jeffers realize he has a total of 534 at bats in the majors, with 24 homers and 68 rbi's, with only 205 minor league at bats beyond single A ball. Part of his defense problem is that the team wants more pitch framing than concern on throwing out base runners. That may change next year with the rule changes. He is a big guy at 6'4" and 230 and coming off one grounded knee it is not that easy to move around and throw your best or block bad pitch's either. Personally, I think he starts getting allstar votes in 2024. I hope for a full year from Larnach in the majors and at least 15 starts from SWR with the Twins this year. I'd like to see a good healthy year from Prielipp and fast rising in the system, if for no other reasons than the Twins are due for some success in the healthy pitching department and this will help me learn to spell his name better.

    I think that everyone can see that Buxton's remaining time in center field is going to be short in order to try to keep him playing in the batters box more. ERod may be the one that helps move Buxton over to right. ERod has quickly become part of that dream lineup with Miranda, Lewis, Lee, Kirilloff, Larnach, Buxton, Martin & Julian. I think that moving Duran to starter will cost the Twins both a starter and a very good reliever.

    I would like ERod to play for the Twins next year, what a fast rise that would be, But I gotta think that knee injury slows him down for most of 2023.

    With the kind of player Polanco has been, I think any team would be more than happy to move that contract forward for 24 & 25. He has been the best overall player of the group that came up in 2014-16. I think he could be moved to first base in the future, but his bat can play in the middle of the lineup. I wouldn't even consider trading him for only a lottery player.

    At the start of last year we had Pagan and Duffy finishing out games. We turned quite a few wins into losses. Next year we will have Duran and Lopez to finish off games. That could be a 5-6 game turn around right there. ++++++ Vazquez instead of Sanchez. + A return of a healthy Polanco, + More from Kirilloff, Larnach, Buxton, Jeffers, Gray, Ober. ++++ Maeda & Mahli instead of Bundy & Archer. ++ Miranda all year. + Gallo over Sano. + More known commodities in Jax, Moran & Alcala. +++ Hopefully the same from Ryan, Arraez & Gordon. Should be +++ Lots of +'s. Add Lewis and maybe Lee , Martin, Wallner, Julian,, ++++ Continued improvement from Varland, SWR, Winder, Henriquez. ++++ Improved health, improved upper level minors depth. Better 26 man roster overall. Should be a much better season.

    I don't foresee any cap on spending. Fans at a game make little difference to the owners. They gave up caring about who could afford to go to a game more than 20 years ago. Baseball will go the way of other made in America corporations have. Instead of 30 teams on U.S. shores they will be bought and moved offshore. Japan instead selling players to the U.S. teams may buy the Seattle Mariners and move them to Tokyo. Whats to stop it from happening? Several Chinese billionaires will buy out the Reds, Guardians and maybe Twins. Move the teams over seas. After 20 years there will only be teams in NY, LA, and maybe SF & Chicago. We will get to watch a real World Series on TV for $100 dollar per broadcast team. The billionaires will compete against each other. The End

    Whoever trades for Kepler is going to need to clear a 40 man roster spot or have a spot open. I think very few teams have a spot open. Like the Twins, everyone lost a year of minor league development because of Covid in 2020. I'd try to match with a team with obviously a need for an outfielder, that also has talented players in high A that won't get to the majors until 2024-25. Of course that same player will be taking a roster spot on the Twins and will need to be carried. But that's probably a combination that offers the best return. The Twins still have players that can be cut, or they can just wait until the 60 day disabled list goes into effect and opens a roster spot and then trade Kepler.
