  1. Its April. "Oh we're not playing Buxton this month in case he gets hurt. We'll wait until August to play him." All fans would think what genius's the managment of the Twins is. NOT.
  2. I believe Ober needs to stay in the rotation. His injury this year was not arm related. The Twins currently have 3-4 starters who may not be back in 2024. They need to add long term starting pitching depth to their team.
  3. When looking at the last ten years of "pitcher of the year " award winners, only Berrios and Rogers made significant contributions. I am hoping for Varland to get added to that too very short list. Best of luck to him.
  4. I forgot about the lottery change. I had already been looking at who we could pass to get down to 11th or 12th if possible. Since we have a couple more Il's and walking wounded after this weekend that makes it more doable.
  5. That's a difference of about 1 out per game. I would trade that for the 1 run per game they cut out.
  6. No team has their starting pitchers as a group average 6 innings per game. So the Twins are pretty much pitching to the standard in baseball this year. As they were last year. Their team era is down over a run per game from last year. The total runs allowed is also down over a run per game. People may not like it but from a year over year look back they have been successful in handling the pitching staff this year. Considering how many pitchers have gone down with injuries, I would say chopping off a run per game allowed is pretty remarkable. Hitting is only down slightly. Last year they were 14th in scoring and this year they are 16th. Again considering all the injuries, this is pretty remarkable Do all the conditioning you want, but knee, elbow and shoulder injuries along with broken bones are more a sympton of doing too much rather than too little. I would have liked to have seen what this team could have accomplished with everyone healthy and am hoping to see what this team can accomplish next year with hopefully everyone healthy. But this site has been too negative instead of focusing on what has actually been done.
  7. Buxton maybe the best centerfielder this team has, but I would begin to transition him to playing right field more. As a centerfielder, he is constantly getting injured and has no value sitting on the injured list. A platoon of Celestine and perhaps Wallner, with Celestine playing center when he is in and Buxton moving to right. Is Celestine a better centerfielder than Buxton? NO. But he is better than an injured Buxton. With Wallner playing right when he is in and Buxton center. Maybe, just maybe we could Buxton up to a healthy 80-100 games this way. Larnach, I think has earned playing time in left. Or at least earned the right to play himself off the team. When he was healthy this year he was hitting in the heart of the order and doing well.
  8. I'm built for October. Sitting on the couch watching other teams play for the World Series.(actually I usually turn off baseball after the regular season ends)
  9. I think with Gray, Mahle & Maeda as the top 3 next year, then Ryan can be a very could 4. Like most players give him until his 3rd or 4th year to figure out who he really is. I think he will be a guy who can pitch 180-200 innings and give very consistent good starts.
  10. I think we have 3 categories for players this year. Did better than expected, injured or did worst than expected. Did better than expected: Duran, Gordon, Maranda, Arraez, Jax, Moran Injured - Everybody Did worst than expected - Everybody else
  11. Me thinks whatever the teams does in the way of sports specific training and nutrition, they try doing just the opposite of it. Obviously the organization wide protocols don't work.
  12. It's really great to see that we have 4 catching prospects among this group of hitters. We appear to have steady stream of hitting prospects throughout the system. It looks like we can have 2-3 prospects per year pushing for spots on the major league roster.
  13. Miranda has batted 4th regularly recently. Considering the Twins lineup he has done pretty well with very little support. A tough call for anyone let alone a rookie. The pitchers can just pitch around him and let someone else beat them. I expect he will get less to hit this last month of the season.
  14. I would like to see Winder replace Archer sooner than later. Archer might make a good reliever, but I would prefer to see Winder work as a starter the rest of this year no matter how the season turns out.
  15. These are good acquisitions for next year as well as this. It would be nice if they can lock up Fulmer for 2 more so we wouldn't have to be concerned about who we can get this winter. I don't expect to win anything in the playoffs this year, but it would be great to get some of the injured players back to add to their experience levels for an expected playoff run next year.
  16. I think the key to how long Miranda stays at third base may be entirely dependent on where Lee and Lewis play. Miranda may only be at third for 1-2 years before he finds another position, which it seems he can handle at least for the short term..
  17. Billy Hamilton signing. They could have used him all year. Unfortunately, he can't hit. But it sound like a Buxton replacement for the rest of the year(I hope not).
  18. It might be a good time to see if Julian can play a decent left field. its doubtful he'll get much play at second base for the Twins. The way the team is hitting and with the players coming up, they may be a more on-base and steal type of team. Waiting for the three run homer doesn't seem to be in the cards.
  19. I simply like the fact the Twins actually have 3 players having such very good rookie years. I vote for the team doing it again next year. And the year after that. Kudos for the minor league development.
  20. Without them who would we have had healthy for the 4th & 5th spouts in the rotation. Win or lose they still needed someone to put out there. So I think we got value.
  21. Since he came back from covid his command of pitches has not been that sharp. I don't remember what he looked like before his bout with illness. His fastball catches too much of the plate and his breaking pitches too frequently are outside. The good hitting teams make him pay as we've seen. He needs to find that fine line at the edge of the zones.
  22. I've narrowed it down to hitting, pitching & defense.
  23. This has been a big year for injuries for both key players as well as prospects. It would really be nice to see this team with all its best major leaguers and soon to be's playing at the top of their game injury free. Its easier to count the players not injured than injured and still a third of the season to go.
