    I don't believe that the Twins' front office cares whether or not you are "open to Buxton being a fulltime DH". If they prefer Buxton at DH, then that's where he'll be. I would prefer to see Buxton in CF but his physical problems may prevent that from happening.

    Ozzie is a whole other level of great. But Ripken? I don't see it. I lived outside D.C. in the 80's and watched a lot of Oriole's games. Ripken was a very solid, but not spectacular SS. He never would have made that play. And I was a huge Ripken fan (even a fan of Billy and Cal Sr.).

    Because Julien has such a good eye at the plate, he often gets a called third strike on pitches that miss the strike zone - as was the case last night. As soon as the ball hit the catcher's glove, I called "ball four" only to be overruled by the umpire. Bad call by him.

    The clip showing how Lopez' hand is a couple inches further towards 1B is interesting. Assuming that this alignment is a permanent alteration (and I have no reason not to believe it), I find it amazing that: A) a small adjustment produces a major change, and B) how anyone figured this out. Kudos to the coaching staff or Driveline or whoever figured this out.

    A good review, but I'll take issue with numbers 2 and 3. #1. Toronto skipped Gausman's last scheduled start so that he can start game 1. Gausman and Berries versus Gray and Lopez. Who's the favorite? #2. You point out that Gray has the best fWAR since Liriano (2010) and Santana (2006). The Twins were swept by the Yankees in 2010 and by the A's in 2006. But I still think that they will win this series.

    The last sentence of the second paragraph about Farmer needs rewriting (I think). I'm pretty sure he hasn't had a single at bat against "left-handed hitters" all season.

    Very unexpected. "Name the three MLB stadiums at the highest elevation" would be a good trivia question.

    If Lewis is healthy enough to be the DH, then he healthy enough to play 3B. Running the bases is much harder on a pulled hamstring than playing 3B.

    I will watch the Twins' playoff games the same way I watched games all season. I'll record each one and watch it commercial-free when I have time later in the day. As long as I avoid the media (which is not that difficult), the game is a "live" game for me. And I can watch the entire game in about 90 minutes.

    If there isn't room for any of these guys on the 40-man roster, package them in a trade for a tradable draft pick. Don't just give them away in the rule 5 draft.

    I also witnessed the admirable effort of the 65 Twins who fell in seven games to the Dodgers who started either Sandy Koufax or Don Drysdale (both Hall of Fame pitchers) in five of the seven games. I prefer remembering the three World Series teams (win or lose). The current losing streak is a nothing burger in my mind.

    Just after the trade deadline, a lot of people were calling for the front office to be fired. To me, this bullpen is better than one they could've built by losing more assets. Kudos to the men in charge.

    Plenty of teams have had worse strikeout percentages - 80 since WW2? That's one team per year! According to my math, that ain't "a lot". Mikelink - the list you attached a link to is awfully impressive. Guys that hit more than 50 home runs in one year and struck out less than 50 times is special. Stan Musial, Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Kluszewski, Lou Gerhig, Johnny Mize, Yogi Berra (and more). Because of my age, I had the opportunity to watch some of them play. I almost wish I were even older so I might have had a chance to see more.

    I know the A's are a bad team, and that Blackburn isn't the same caliber of pitcher that the Twins will face in the playoffs, yada yada yada..... (thank you George Costanza), but Actually I got nothing to add. I just wanted to use yada yada yada at least once this season.

    If I were making the decision of which catcher to use and with the assumption that both catchers are similar, I would ask that day's starting pitcher who he preferred to have behind the plate. I don't have any fancy, modern statistics (some starting with a "b", some with an "f", and some with only several capital letters) to support my theory. I just feel that the comfort level of the pitcher outweighs statistical analysis.

    I concur with Polanco at DH. That will help keep him healthy and in the lineup. This not Buxton's year so unless he goes on an end of year rampage with him bat, he's not on the roster. Ryan versus Maeda is tough. I'm leaning towards Ryan as the starter only because of Maeda's strong history as a playoff reliever. As for Castro, I'm in Maine so I haven't had many opportunities to watch him playing defense. However, Taylor is a great defender and does have about 50 RBIs as primarily the number 9 batter.

    You only listed Severino as a prospect worth watching. Aren't Martin and Lee prospects worth watching?

    How big is the Twins' bench at Target Field? Is it bigger than a normal bench? And why does any bench need a bat? As for Buxton, if you thought he looked bad as a DH, I would bet he looks even worse as a pinch hitter. He seems to play at his best when he contributes on both offense and defense.
