You can't get experience if they won't let play. How awful would Martin have to play to not be an improvement over Gallo or Luplow.

Minor League Report 8/26 Kernels Continue to Hit
terrydactyls replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Martin, Lee, and Stevenson: 11 ABs, 6 hits, 3 BBs, 3 SBs, 3 Ks. Gallo, Solano, and Luplow: 7 ABs, 0 hits, 1 BB, 0 SB, 4 Ks. Anyone else think that there might be room on the Twins for some new blood?- 21 replies

Could Ohtani UCL open the door for the Twins?
terrydactyls commented on Doc Munson's blog entry in Fantasy GM
So close to staying on topic. It took seven comments before the first complaint about not adding a reliever at the deadline. So close. -
Another article about the Twins not adding a reliever at the deadline. Yawn.

Is King Kenta a 2024 Contributor?
terrydactyls replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
A QO would be twice as much money. That's a lot for a 36 year old #2 or #3 starter.- 39 replies

White Sox Have Chance to Do Funniest Thing Ever
terrydactyls replied to RandBalls Stu's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I thought the topic would be that the White Sox, Guardians, and Twins are contemplating a three-team trade. Baldelli to the White Sox, Reinsdorf and LaRussa to Cleveland, and a revitalized Terry Francona to the Twins. -
There wasn't the technology years ago for anyone to truly know how good or bad the umpiring was. For all we know, the umpiring may have improved. But maybe that's why baseball was more fun back in the old days.

What in the world was the exit velocity on Wallner's single???? I thought the game-ending double play was going to be close. I just haven't seen enough of Correa (I live in Maine) to remember that he throws the ball as hard as Wallner hits the ball.

The in-studio analysts on the MLB channel were discussing the Twins after last night's comeback win and their chances in the playoffs. They felt the Twins would be a scary team in the playoffs because of their starting rotation, decent offense, and the strength of their bullpen. As some have pointed out above, a couple starters would probably become bullpen pieces which would give the Twins six solid choices {Duran, Jax Theilbar, Pagan, and two starters -Varland and Ober?). I'm not agreeing with this view (or disagreeing) but it's interesting that baseball experts have better opinions of the Twins than the local fan base.

Since the trade deadline, Michael Fulmer has an ERA of 6.48, a WHIP of 1.20, and opponents are hitting .242. How much better is that?

Baldelli removes Jax when he's doing well. Baldelli leaves Duran in when he's doing poorly. Why can't Baldelli predict the future and make the correct decision. It's so frustrating!!!!! I know I'm not Randball but this is satire. I figure people are going to bitch about Baldelli's bullpen decisions so I thought I would get the ball rolling.

Today on Power Alley (MLB Radio), the announcers were discussing the Twins-Brewers game tonight (Wed, Aug 23). Corbin Burnes is the Milwaukee pitcher and he has been striking out batters at a very high rate One announcer said that it would be an interesting matchup because: "The Twins have been a little prone to striking out lately." A little prone? Lately?

Stevenson is leading off, has 17 HR, 40 SB, and is hitting .312. Why can't he take Gallo's spot for the rest of the year?

To me, the answer seems obvious. Most TD people want pitchers kept in the game until they give up enough runs so they can criticize Baldelli for leaving them in too long.

I will agree that seeking a favorable matchup has been in existence for as long as I can remember, but you are not responding to the original objection. The issue was doing it in the third inning. That isn't something that was previously done (unless there was an injury). Here's a scenario for you. Your opponent uses a left handed pitcher to start a game. Playing the match-up game, you go with a heavy right handed lineup. All very traditional. At the start of the 3rd inning, your opponent brings in a right handed pitcher. Using your philosophy, you pinch hit for your right handers. At the start of the 5th inning, your opponent brings in another lefty. What is your move? Use the remaining bench players so you can match up right handers against a lefty? If so, you have now exhausted your bench and have no one left to pinch hit for the rest of the game. My OPINION is that doing so is a very stupid move. And if you hadn't wasted your original right handed lineup, they would now be facing a left handed pitcher again. AND you would still have players left for late inning moves.
