  1. The only thing I would change in your comment is that I think that it would be time for the front office to go rather than the manager (not that the manager shouldn't go at some point). If you've traded or DFA'd under performing players and you still don't have the right players, that's the fault of the front office, not the manager. The manager should be fired for many reasons but personnel isn't one of them.
  2. I've read some comments at The Athletic and Bleacher Report comparing Jenkins to Larry Walker. That would be incredible. A power hitter with base hit skills and a good fielder with a strong arm. Great Day 1.
  3. What do we do? SELL! SELL! SELL! The Twins are below .500, not in 1st place (in the worst division in MLB), and have a record of 36-45 against all teams not named Kansas City or Oakland. This is not a team that can advance in the playoffs (if they even make the playoffs). Time to look towards 2024 and beyond. Everyone on this team should be available for trade for the right price. If playoff contenders are willing to give up top prospects for one player (like Steer and Encarnacion-Strand for Mahle), make the trade. Get the young guys on the MLB team and see how they perform for the next 71 games.
  4. Exactly. I've been asking for the last two years for Twins Daily to add names. At least this time it was obvious because Festa was the only Twins prospect in the Futures game.
  5. Every national "last draft" that I've read has Jacob Gonzales as the Twins pick. I hope he has a lot of unknown talents that we aren't privy to.
  6. This is a perfect time to be a seller. There are a lot of buyers and not a lot to pick from. It's like a grocery store meat counter during COVID. The Twins can possibly win the ALC but the odds of them advancing beyond the first round are very slim (according to thelines.com). Time to offer to contenders anyone not in the 2024 plans. Think long term.
  7. Serious inquiry - are these mock drafts based on how the different outlets rank players or are they predictions of when they will be drafted?
  8. Thank you for making disparaging remarks about me and also for providing the link.
  9. How many of you would like to see MLB get rid of the rule prohibiting trading draft picks? It would be a much cleaner draft if the Twins could trade the #5 pick for a somewhat lower first round pick and a top 4 prospect (or a good young player already in the majors).
  10. If you also include Philadelphia's run last year, that makes twice in 35 years. That's a 5% success rate. I would not mortgage the Twins future given those odds.
  11. IMHO, the Twins aren't nearly ready to compete with the big boys. I think they should make everyone available for trade as long as the return as the return is significant.
  12. I have not heard or read this. Can you provide a link to this?
  13. I went to milb.com/GameDay, selected which level of play I wanted, and found the corresponding Twins team.
  14. My two cents. Unless a player has a no-trade clause in his contract, everyone should be available for trade - if the price is right. Buyers with a real chance at winning the World Series have been known to make trades that appear to be one-sided.
  15. I hope Maeda and Kepler keep going to the end of July. Their trade value will be quite high.
  16. Miranda made a couple of very nice plays yesterday. But until he starts hitting, I agree with you about Castro/Farmer. There several players in St. Paul who deserve a look.
  17. So, to summarize, if Gallo gets better in the second half, the signing might break even. I don't think that shatters the failure narrative.
  18. Just pick the best player available and don't try to "outthink" other front offices.
  19. Is the strike zone box supposed to be accurate? There were a lot of pitches tonight that were clearly outside the box that were called strikes. Some even a full ball-width outside the box. If he box is accurate, that was some pretty crappy umpiring.
  20. It kind of sounds like a way to negate the purpose of the draft. If the Twins go to prospect A (who they want at pick 34) and tell him they are willing to go $1M over slot (by choosing a lesser value player at pick 5, what prevents any other team from drafting him and not pay him over slot? If Player A doesn't want to sign for slot money, are his choices to either return to school if he has eligibility left or does he go work for UPS for a year and hope he gets more next year? And if another team picks him, the Twins just screwed themselves on pick 5. Seems like trading draft picks would be a more transparent way of accomplishing the same thing.
  21. I don't understand this under slot/over slot nonsense. Help!
  22. I have more faith in Jeffers than in most of the team. For example, I was watching Kepler a couple nights ago, late in the game with runners on. He got to a 3-2 count and I said out loud "Strike three looking." The next words from the TV - STRIKE THREE LOOKING.
  23. Miguel Cordero is in his age-16 season? Doesn't baseball have any child labor laws? With almost all young players, the common question is if he's old enough to vote. But with Cordero, you need to ask if he's ever driven a car! This is a name to track.
